The brother of my brother-in-law sends a message through me. How will it be received? Welcome to episode 56 of My True Ghost Stories. Today's story is about my ex-husband's brother-in-law, and I don't know if that means that when I was married to my ex-husband that he was also my brother-in-law. I don't really know how that works, but it was about the guy that is married to my ex-husband's sister.

So one day, really, really surprisingly, shockingly, dramatically out of the blue, my brother-in-law, who I'm going to call Keith, his brother died suddenly, and it was a big shock to the whole family. He was at all family gatherings, and I knew him pretty well. I saw him often at all holidays and family gatherings. I did not attend the funeral because it was not held in New York City, and I wasn't that close with that side of the family, but I did wind up talking to his family about it, and grieving in that way with them. And then, one night, his spirit came to me.

I was walking home from a friend's house, and I was walking up the block back towards my house, and I was approaching, it's like a line of a few garages attached to each other, garages for the houses behind them, and there's a fence that sort of juts out and blocks the view of these garages. So I'm walking alongside this fence that juts out and right behind the fence are these garages. And as I'm walking along the fence, approaching these garages, Keith's brother, who I'm going to call, Adam sort of pops his hat out. It would have been really spooky if I was scared of ghosts, but you all know I'm not. And he just sort of leaned out from behind the fence that hid the view of the garages, and just showed me his face, and I stopped.

I felt myself being blocked by this spirit, and I stopped, and when I stopped, he changed his position from leaning out from behind that fence to walking out to the middle of the sidewalk to talk to me. And he had a few messages for me, and the messages were for Keith, his brother. He wanted me to deliver certain messages to his brother, Keith, who was the brother-in-law of my ex-husband. And to be honest, I don't remember all of the messages. There was a few things he wanted, his brother, Keith to do, but the one that I do remember to this day, and this was many years ago, the one that I remember is he said, tell Keith to pray to Saint Edmund.

Now I have no idea, well, at the time, I had no idea who Saint Edmund is, but I said, okay, and I think I probably, at that time, he used to carry a little notebook around with me, and I wrote down the messages. Now I do voice to memo, but at the time, I wrote down the messages, and I don't know who the Saint Edmund is, but I'm sure there is a Saint Edmund, because in the Catholic Church, you know, there's a Saint, everything, for the most part. You got a name, there's a Saint with that name. Who Saint Edmund is the patron saint of? That was the answer I did not have.

I promised the ghost of Keith's brother, whose name is Adam. That's not their real names. I always change the names. I promised him that I would deliver these messages to Keith, and I was not asked to cross Adam over. Adam was not ready.

He needed for these things to happen before he could cross over. So I was probably not even going to be in charge of him crossing over. He needed his brother, Keith, to do these things before he crossed over. So my part in this whole project was to deliver this message to Keith. So that he would do these things, one of which was to pray to Saint Edmund.

Now, I still try to keep this all earthly and not use the internet to research these messages that I get, and I try to talk to people, and I try to look it up in religious books. And that's what I did here with this message about Saint Edmund for Keith from Adam. So I did know that there was a Saint Edmund's prep school in Brooklyn somewhere, and I actually knew a woman whose son went there. So I ran into that woman, and I asked her, do you know anything about Saint Edmund? Because I wanted to just have it be conversations that give me the information as opposed to the internet.

And she said she would ask her son, who goes to Saint Edmund's prep. She would ask him, who is Saint Edmund? And I saw her again the next day. And amazingly, her son did not know much about Saint Edmund. Possibly the rest of the students at the school knew about Saint Edmund, but her son in particular did not know who he was, the patron saint of, or anything.

So that avenue for finding information about Saint Edmund was closed. The next thing I decided to do was look into this book of saints that I have. My friend Margaret, who I've talked about in many episodes, my friend Margaret, who works at my church, in support of my spiritual journey as a medium, and my spiritual journey in general, Margaret had given me this book, and it was a daily reflections for each day of the year, and each day of the year had a passage about a different saint. So I thought, oh, let me look up Saint Edmund in that book. So I went and I took the book off the shelf, and I opened it up to the index and the back, the ease.

And don't you know, there was no Saint Edmund in that book. So my avenues of finding this out organically and not digitally were really drawing up. And so I don't remember those are the two ways that I remember trying to find out, and I don't remember if I did any other ways, but eventually I went to the internet. I just had to. And the internet told me that Saint Edmund is the patron saint of pandemic victims and plague victims.

And this was pre-coronavirus pandemic. So he's been the patron saint of all pandemics, I guess, and also the plague. So something about this pray to Saint Edmund had something to do with illness. And I don't know what Adam exactly had died of, and maybe it was some sort of illness, nobody ever really said, but the saint he had asked me to ask Keith to pray to was Saint Edmund, the patron saint of pandemic victims and plague victims. So the dilemma came up once I had all the information that I needed about Saint Edmund and the other messages, and I wrote them all down.

The dilemma became when am I going to deliver these to Keith? I knew it needed to be in person because of the whole organic, not digital thing, and I just had a sense that it needed to be in person. So I needed to find a time that I was going to tell Keith about it. And I was in the middle of a divorce at that time. So me attending the family gatherings of that family and my opportunities to see Keith were not really happening anymore.

However, we had a small party for one of my daughters for an event in her life, and Keith was invited. I thought finally, now I have my opportunity. Even though I was in the middle of this divorce, my ex-husband, my soon to be ex-husband, and I hosted this little party at my house, Keith came and his wife came, and I think Keith's kids came and a few other family members. It was small, but we were all there in the house, and the party was lovely. Everybody got along, and then it started to wrap up.

We were starting to have the coffee, so I knew, okay, this party is ending soon. So I'm going to have to tell Keith this thing, and I certainly did not want to do it in front of the whole family. So I approached him, I said, hey, Keith, I need to talk to you about something. You have a minute, and he's like, yeah, yeah, what's up? So I said, well, when should come out on the front porch with me?

So I had my little paper clutched in my hand, and Keith and I headed out to my front porch, where I fixed the lock, so we wouldn't get locked out, and we stood out on the front porch right in front of my front door, and I said, okay, hey, and then I got really nervous. I was so nervous to tell him this, and the reason that I was so nervous about this was because I had never revealed this side of me to that side of the family. As far as they knew, I was like a regular girl who attends church, and that's it. I had never revealed this to any member of that family, including my ex-husband. So I picked up the paper and my hand was shaking, and I said, I'm just going to say it, I'm just going to say it, and I said, okay, Keith, I am a medium, and I get messages from people who have passed away, and I actually have gotten a message for you from your brother, Adam, and then just a long pause, and he didn't react, and I said, well, would you like to hear it?

And he was looking interested, and he sort of motioned at the paper that I was holding, which I guess he could tell that the messages were written on there, and he motioned to the paper, and he said, yes, yes, yes, I believe in this kind of thing. And he might have been a little bit of a hurry because the party was wrapping up inside, but he said, yes, yes, I believe in this kind of thing. Tell me. So there was about four messages, only one of which I can remember, and that's the one I'm telling you about today. So I told him the other messages, which were not really positive messages.

They weren't the kind of thing that you might want to hear, like, I'm okay now, I'm in a better place, you know, all is forgiven, stuff like that. It was none of that. It was, I need you to do this, I need you to do this, and I need you to do this, and the last one, as I've already told you about was, I need you to pray to Saint Edmund. And Keith, he hadn't had any reaction to the other things, and when I said the thing about Saint Edmund, he had a small reaction. It was not a big reaction, but he just sort of nodded and said, yeah, that makes sense.

And I was so nervous, and I had no idea how these messages were being received by him. And I was so nervous about talking about this with him that I did not even ask him, why, why the ghost of his brother Adam telling him, Keith, to pray to Saint Edmund, made sense. I didn't even think to ask why I just nodded and said, okay, that's all the messages, and that was that. He thanked me. I don't remember if I gave him the paper or not.

I may have given him the paper. He thanked me, said he would do the things, and like I said, that was that. So luckily we were not locked out. We went back inside, and the little party had basically completely wrapped up at that point. People had their purses on.

It was a summertime, so there's no coats, so purses, and they were hugging goodbye and having that endless chitchat that ends a family party. And we all say goodbye, and I did not see any of those people that much anymore now that I was getting a divorce. But I loved that family. I still love them. They're just the most wonderful family.

And I know that this conversation with Keith about a message from his brother Adam is the only time I had ever showed them my medium side. So as the years have gone by, I pretty much completely lost touch with that family. Although I do get updates about them from my daughters and from my ex-husband, I get updates about them, and you know, life is happening over there, but I don't really get to talk to them anymore, which makes me sad. And I've always been secretly worried that maybe Keith told them about what I said, and maybe they didn't get it at all, and I don't know. I'm just self-conscious about how maybe they thought it was crazy that I thought I was a medium.

I am a medium, but maybe they think that I'm delusional. So I have lost touch with them. But recently, one of Keith's kids got married. And my daughters went to the wedding, and apparently it was one of the most fabulous weddings they've ever been to. And they told me that everyone talked about me, not the whole time, like I would have liked.

But I was mentioned, and everyone that came over to them said, so how is your mother? And apparently, when talking to two of their cousins, Keith's kids, they said, how's your mom? She's so cool. We always loved her when we were a kid, and then they said something that when my daughters told me about it, I was so happy to hear that maybe they don't think I'm delusional. These two girl cousins said to my daughters, yeah, your mother's so cool, and she's definitely tapped into something that the rest of us are not.

And it was such a relief for me to hear that, because it still matters to me what their opinion is of me, that will never go away. And most likely, since I never revealed that side of me, except to that one conversation with Keith, most likely, the reason they're saying that is because Keith must have told them about our interaction, where I gave Keith the messages from his departed brother Adam. And I'm so glad that he did. And hopefully, he took the steps requested by Adam for him to do, and hopefully Adam was able to eventually cross over.
