Fading Clinic

A closing clinic and a crowd of ghosts, what will happen to them after the doors close? Welcome to episode 66 of My True Ghost Stories. In episode 60 called Water Heater Ghost, I talked about two clinics that were merging. And this story is about the clinic that was closing. The closing was a slow process, very gradual.
And it was so gradual that it was very depressing and steady. And there was this steady decrease in activity. And it just got really, really sad. This clinic, the original clinic where I used to go to therapy, had its heyday. It used to have a full waiting room.
And it used to have all these groups that would meet. And it had an art studio and it had a music studio. It had dance classes. And sometimes there would even be little therapy dogs running around in the hallways. While you had your therapy session, you would just hear these dogs yapping and running up and down the hallways.
This place was full of life. And so the closing, although they did not announce it officially until about two months before it actually closed, the fact that it was closing was obvious and there was gossip about it closing. So you kind of knew that that was what was happening. And it was very obvious from the slow, steady, depressing decrease in activity in the hallways and in the client rooms. And the art studio closing and the dance studio closing and the music studio closing, all of these things, it became very obvious that this place was on its last legs.
Now I hate to see this kind of thing. I hate to be present while a place basically dies. A place that used to be full of life is slowly, slowly fading away. I mean, does anybody enjoy that? I can't imagine somebody saying, oh, this is so great.
There used to be all these people here. Now there's only three people here. Like I can't imagine anyone enjoying that. And it reminds me of this New York Times article I read once and it was about the closing of the chain Toys R Us. And it was focusing on this one particular Toys R Us in New Jersey.
And the name of the article was, there is nothing left. The day Toys R Us closed for good. And by the end of this article, which described every day and how there was less and less stuff and then the staff just kept showing up. And I by the end of this article that I read in 2018, I was sobbing because this was so sad, which I guess the New York Times knew. The article was incredible and I'm going to put a link in the show notes for this article.
If you want to read something really sad. And these places, these places that are full of life, you should really have lots of spirits in them. I know because I see spirits and where there are a lot of people, there are a lot of spirits. They like to be around people. They like to be in crowded train stations.
They like to be at parties. They like to be in nightclubs. They like to be in comedy clubs. And they like to be in big stores where there's a lot of people and a lot of children. They like to be around people because spirits are people.
So when a place is closing like this, I worry about the spirits that are there. Are they going to get it that this place is closing? I told the story about this kind of thing in episode 55 about going to get a mammogram in a closing hospital and how the spirits there were very confused. And it was actually able to help one spirit who was noticing that the place was closing and didn't know what to do. And I think that that is usually what is happening to spirits in these closing establishments is that they see the decrease in activity, but they don't know what to do.
And I as a medium worry about what will happen to them. So in this closing, toys are us, for instance, you know, they knew what they were going to do with the leftover inventory. They knew that they were going to turn the lights off when the store closed on the final day. They knew that they all had to get new jobs like all of that stuff was taken care of. And since nobody can see all the spirits there, nobody makes arrangements for what those spirits are going to do when the place closes.
They're just going to lock the door and lock them in there. So this clinic that I'm talking about, this closing clinic where I used to go to therapy that was slowly, slowly losing all of its activity. This clinic, which I had gone to for many years, had many spirits that I had seen. I had seen many, many spirits walking up and down the hallways, sitting in the chairs, in the waiting room, coming in and out of different rooms. There was a lot of spirit activity there because there was a lot of human activity there.
The spirits were attracted to all the energy that was there. There was a lot of healing there with the groups and the therapy. There's a lot of healing. And I think the spirits liked being around that. So me, when I got the official word in the form of a letter sent to my house that the clinic was closing for sure, I became very worried about the spirits that I knew were in there.
And I became worried about the space itself and all the energy in the walls. What was going to happen to this once completely energetic place? For some reason, I was really worried that they weren't going to turn the lights off. That the doors would be locked and the gates would be pulled down, but the lights would be on inside. Which sounds ridiculous that the landlords might pay for the lights to be on, even though there was no activity in there.
But I have seen many a closed storefront in my day with the lights on inside. I don't know why it happens, but it does happen. I even talked to my therapist about it. What are they going to do? Are they going to turn off the lights?
And she was like, I don't know if they're going to turn off the lights. You know, tell me about why that matters to you. And I couldn't tell her about why it matters to me. I didn't like the feeling of this energetic space being abandoned and not even looking abandoned, just being empty. And she is not the type to worry about that kind of thing.
So I just didn't really pursue that with her. And I didn't tell her because she was also not the kind of person who worries about lost spirits being trapped in an old building. So I did not tell her that I was concerned about all the spirits. That's kind of separate from what I talk about in therapy. Now one thing I did know for sure is that I did not want to be there on the last day of operations there at the clinic.
I did not want to be there on the last day because that would be too sad. However, the universe had other ideas and like my appointment got switched around and canceled and rearranged. And I wound up there on the last day, which I think was the universe and St. Michael's way of making sure that I, as a medium, was there right at the very end. And so I was like, I didn't know that at the time.
I was like, I don't want to be there on the last day. I have to go because I had this appointment and I said, but I'm not going to do the thing where I walk around and I say, this is the last time I'm going to open these doors. This is the last time I'm going to sign in on this sign and she, this is the last time I'm going to use this bathroom. I say, I'm not going to do that. And as I was taking the subway there, it came to me.
It was a message from St. Michael that I have to get all the spirits to leave with me on this very last day and come outside onto the sidewalk. And he didn't tell me what to do after that. But the message was that I had to gather them up and there was a lot of them gather them up and get them to come outside of the clinic. And that I had to do that because St.
Michael can't do it because they can see St. Michael and they can't see other guides, but they can see me and they will listen to me. I don't know why that is, but it's like that. So when I arrived, I opened up the door and I said, don't say this is the last time. I just refrained as much as I could from doing that.
I just tried not to think about it. And so I went in and I signed in and then I stood in the middle of the completely empty waiting room. I was the only person there and it was pretty bad because they had taken all of the pictures down off the wall and the posters and the magazines were all gone. It was bad. If you don't like that kind of thing of a closing place, it was really like, this is over.
This is the last day. But I stood in the middle of that waiting room kind of out of sight of the people at the front desk and nobody else was around. And I called to all the spirits that were in there. I was like, okay, everybody, you have to meet me right here in front of these doors in an hour. And I could sense the spirits.
I could see some of them at the end of the hallways. I could see some of them out of the corner of my eyes, but for the most part, I could feel them and it was a deal. We were all going to meet in front of the doors in an hour after I was finished with my session. And I wanted them to meet me right in front of the exit so I could just high-tail it out of there and not do. This is the last time I'm going to walk through these doors onto the sidewalk.
So I finished my appointment and I rushed through the hallway and I refrained from saying this is the last time I'm going to walk through this hallway and I signed out and I did say this to myself. This is the last time I'm going to sign out. And I chatted a little with the desk staff, but they were all going to be at the new clinic that I was going to. So I didn't have to worry about never seeing them again. There was no, this is the last time with the staff at the desk.
So then I said goodbye to them. I said see you next week at the other place and then I took a few steps back out of sight from them and I stood near the exit door where I had told all the spirits to meet me and I sort of back in with my arms. Nobody could see me because it was completely empty place, back in with my arms. Okay, everybody, come on, come on, let's go. And I walked.
There was like a little vestibule. So there's a set of doors going into the clinic, then a little vestibule and then a set of doors going out to the sidewalk. So I walked into the vestibule and I said, okay, come on, everybody. And they actually all joined me in the vestibule. And then I walked out onto the sidewalk and the ghosts all stayed in the vestibule.
And I said, okay, come on, come on, guys. All right, come on and they were afraid to come outside. They were sort of huddled together like, no, we don't want to go out there. And so St. Michael told me, just tell them it's okay, tell them it's safe.
And so I hadn't been saying that because I didn't think it wasn't safe. But I said, no, it's safe to come out. It's safe to come out. And then St. Michael told me to tell them that this was their next step.
And it was most likely that these spirits had been in that clinic or in that building for a really long time. And we're not ready for the idea of coming outside. But I did enough coaxing and friendly. Come on, everybody, come on, come on out that they started to come out one at a time through the glass story. And as they came out into the sidewalk, I didn't know where they were going to go.
I didn't know if they were going to stick with me. But as they came out, they dispersed. They dispersed. One went this way, one went that way, one went up, one went, they just went in all directions. And I just kept waving them out and they came out one at a time and went in all these different directions.
And my guess is that this next step that St. Michael told me to tell them they were taking this next step was an individual step for each spirit. And the each spirit had their own next step. And they were in all different directions. Maybe they were going to say goodbye to family or places or maybe they had to, I don't know.
I really have no idea because my job is moving them along to whatever their next step is. I think it's appropriate that these spirits were lingering around a place where all this healing was going on, where people were getting therapy, people were working through trauma, people were learning to draw, learning to play instruments and healing. I think it's really telling that all these spirits would be in there for some time. And I don't know if they were people who used to go to that clinic or if they were spirits that lived in the building before it was a clinic, but I think that they were placed there, that this was part of their healing journey on the other side. I think they were placed there to be around healing.
And then when the clinic was closing, it was part of some grand scheme that they would all go on to their next step at the same time. The universe has very complex organization and plans that I don't understand and none of us could really understand, but I think that that was what was going on. And wherever all those spirits went in all those different directions, it is my hope that someone will help them to ascend when it is their time.
