an open house and an empty home. What will the new owners need to know? Welcome to episode 67 of My True Ghost Stories. As I've shared many times on this podcast, I go to church every week. And most of the time, I walk to church.

Church is very close to my house, maybe a five to ten minute walk tops. And I have a specific route that I like to take. There's a few different blocks I could walk down, but I like to walk down this one particular block that has beautiful houses and also really good free boxes. I have described before in this podcast what a free box is. I don't know if they have them all over the country, but people take things from their house that they don't want anymore and they put it out in a box out in front of their house with a big sign on it that says free.

And then you can take whatever you want. So this particular block that I like to walk down to go to church has a lot of great free boxes. But mostly the main reason I like to walk down that block is because of the houses. It's a quiet block. It's got a lot of detached houses.

It is the city. So there's not a lot of space between the detached houses. But there's lots and lots of one and two family homes on this block. And I really want to live on this block. I don't live on this block.

But I would like to. So one of the things that is going on all over the country and particularly in New York City is housing prices are through the roof. So probably most of you know this, but the houses in my neighborhood are over a million dollars. So many old time residents who have been here for a long time are caching in on this housing market and selling these houses for these prices. One thing that's happening with the neighborhood besides the housing prices being through the roof is that it had become something of a grandma neighborhood.

I like to call it a grandma neighborhood. And the grandma's are downsizing and selling their homes to young families. Well the young families, but young families nonetheless. And since pretty much the only time I walk down this block is when I'm going to church. This is always on a Sunday.

And since the real estate market is usually a weekend business there is usually an open house or two going on on my favorite block during my walk to church on Sunday mornings. So as I walk to church, I will see these signs, these little signs outside the house is open house today like with an arrow pointing towards the front door. Like you need that arrow to tell you where to go. But anyway, the little say open house today and with an arrow pointing in and there's often some helium balloons attached to the sign like it's a party in there or something to entice you to go in. So as I'm walking to church, I will look at these open house signs, check the hours and they're usually going on till you know two o'clock in the afternoon.

So I'm able to make a note that I'm going to stop at this open house on my way back. Why do I go to the open houses? Well, I'm interested in seeing the inside of these houses that I've been looking at the outside for so long. Also for a time I was considering buying one of these houses and moving to this quiet block that I love so much. I was in a different financial situation at that time but it was something I was considering.

So I would go to the open houses. I would go to the open houses because I was curious about the house. I would go to the open house because maybe I might buy this house and lastly or not lastly, I wanted to see if there was any ghosts in there because I can tell if there's a ghost in these houses and since I have a business where I clear ghosts from houses I want to connect with the real estate agent you know just tell them what I do in case they bring it up or just see if that conversation ever starts. And sometimes it does. About two years ago I was walking down my favorite block on my way to church.

There's the little sign outside of this house and this house was one of the most curious houses on the block. This house was a beautiful one story stone house. It looked like an old miniature castle or something the way it was built with these big stones. And if I knew architecture I would be able to tell you what kind of architecture this was but I don't know what it's called but it was made out of big gray stones. It was very sturdy looking and it was a single story.

There was not a second story. The other curious thing about this house was there was a fence between that house and the other house. And there was a big sign on the fence and it said this fence was installed to prevent my neighbor from destroying my plants and destroying was misspelled but someone had spent some money on this sign. So I don't know if the person on the other side of the fence had put that sign up or if the person in the stone house had put the sign up but it had been there for 20 years. And I heard later that it was actually a brother and sister who lived right next door to each other and had this feud going on about destroying each other's plants.

So anyway, it was a very curious house because it was really cool looking. It looked like a castle. It had this hilarious sign on the fence and it also had a beautiful garden in the front. When I saw the for sale sign up, I was afraid I said, oh, I hope somebody buys it. Maybe I will buy it.

But I hope somebody buys it because it could easily fall prey to developers and developers have a tendency of coming around this neighborhood and knocking down these really cool little houses and putting up luxury condos happens all the time. And so I was really afraid, oh, please don't let that happen to this adorable one story stone house. I went to church. While I was in church, I did not think too much about that little stone house that was for sale up the block but I did have a plan to go into that open house on my way back home. So after I left church, I took the side exit that leads right to that block and I walked up the block and I crossed the street.

And as I crossed the street, I saw that the real estate agent was standing in the doorway of the house, which made me think that there was nobody in there. Maybe a slow day for open houses. I said, oh, can I come in? She said, absolutely, come on in. They're always so friendly.

They're not going to be unfriendly. And I went in and I signed a little list, the little sign in sheet and put my phone number. And I went in. I thought that this house was going to be tiny and I walked in and for some reason, this house once you walked in the door, it just seemed huge. Yes, it was only one floor but it had like some split level stuff going on and it had windows on all the sides and it was not attached on either side.

So lots and lots of sunlight was coming in. Also, it was not staged so there was no furniture in there and it was all these beautiful hardwood floors that were light in color. And so every room looked huge and every room was full of sun. This was not what I expected from this little dark looking castle-type house that I walked past every time I went to church. So as I walked through this bright and airy house, I kept commenting to the real estate agent, I did not think that this was what this house was going to look like inside.

And she slowly told me this story. She said that the man that had lived there was a handyman and he had restored the whole house to its original glory. He wasn't the first owner but he had lived there for many, many years and he had raised his children there and he had passed away now his children on the house and they were selling it. They had removed the sign from outside that said this fence was installed to prevent my neighbor from destroying my plants. They had removed it, although you could still see the light spot where it had been.

And I asked her about the sign and she said, oh yes, we took that down. We didn't really understand what it was about. And so I told her that I heard that this was a brother and sister who lived next door to each other and this was some longstanding feud that they had just a little neighborhood gossip and didn't really matter. So that was a little bit of the small talk that she and I participated in. As we got towards the back of the house, over to the right was a room that actually did have something in it.

It had an enormous dark red hot tub, which was very interesting. A lot of sunny windows in that hot tub room. It seemed a little out of character for this place that otherwise looked like a castle. And then I looked out the back window and there was a beautiful garden back there. Almost as beautiful as the one in the front.

So as I stood there looking out at the garden and I saw that someone had put a lot of work into it, I could see that there had been a lot of stones moved and little walls made and it was really beautiful. I got a message coming in the side of my head and the message said, ask to see the basement. It's important that you see the basement. Now up until this point, I had not experienced any supernatural activity, any messages I hadn't felt, any presences. So it really seemed to me that this house was ghost-free.

But then I got this message, ask to see the basement. It's important that you see the basement. So I turned to the real estate agent and I said, may I see the basement? And she said, oh, absolutely. And she led me back to the middle of the house where there was a door on the right side of the house and we went down the stairs.

And as we got down the stairs, this area had not been cleaned out and it was still full of this dad's stuff. The suns had not cleaned it out. It wasn't full of junk. What it was full of was carpentry, equipment. It was full of tools and it was full of different size saws and a workbench and organized on various shelves that went from the floor to the ceiling was wood in all different sizes, widths and lengths.

And it was very highly organized and this was somebody's workshop. I remembered that the real estate agent had told me that the man's sons had told her that he was a handyman and he had done all the work around the house himself and I realized that this was his studio. This is where he did his art or whatever he did with all that wood. It was very important. And the message that came to me was they cannot throw this in a dumpster.

I had this image of a 1-800-got-junk dumpster out in the front of the house with people just throwing all this finely organized wood and tools into it. And the message that I was getting was not from the dad not from the man that had done all the renovations. It was from his guides. The spirit of this dad was not there, but I feel that he had not ascended and he was somewhere looking over the scene and saying they cannot throw away all my material, my tools and my wood and my art. So I turned to the real estate agent and I said, okay, I'm a medium.

So I can talk to ghosts and I hear messages from their guides and from my guides and I said I'm getting a very strong message right now that they can throw out anything else they want to but they cannot throw out this wood. And I sort of said all that at once. I didn't wait to see what her reaction was to me saying I'm a medium. And she was just staring at me, horrified, but she believed me. I could tell she believed me.

And she said, oh my God, okay, yes. I will tell the sons. I will tell the sons that they can't throw away this wood. And I said, yes, it is important for their father to rest in peace that they do not throw away this wood. It's the only thing that is important.

He doesn't even care if you sell the house, but he does care that you do not throw away all this finally organized material. And she agreed. She was really taken aback. She said, I can't believe this is happening. This is so amazing.

And then she asked me questions like most people do about, do you see them everywhere? What do you do when you see them? And I said, well, this is what I do when I see them if I can. And right now I can help because I can tell you to tell the sons this message from the guides of their father. Don't throw away this stuff.

And the rest of the message was that it needed to be given to someone who would appreciate it and use it. She said, I can do that. And she said, these sons love their dad so much that they will believe this and they will do it. And I left. I gave her my card.

So, you know, in case you ever come upon a haunted house, just give me a call and I can clear it up for you. And then I headed home. I felt very satisfied that I had delivered this message. I felt very satisfied that I had made this connection with this real estate agent and maybe I could get some work out of it. And I felt very satisfied that these sons of this dad, these grieving sons, even though they were going to sell the house, they were going to get some closure that their dad was going to get what he needed before he crossed over, which was that somebody would get to appreciate and enjoy his wood tools and workbench.

And I am happy to report that no developers bought that house instead a young family, most likely a wealthy young family, bought the house and I did not ever see a dumpster out front. So, I am going to assume that the handyman's goods are out there being used and appreciated. Thank you so much for listening to this episode of My True Go Stories.
