We Encounter Some Grad School Ghosts

A choice of two rooms, each with its own paranormal problem. Which one will we choose? Welcome to episode 50 of My True Ghost Stories. Recently, one of my daughter started grad school. The session began in early June, so the campus was basically empty, except for the summer students.
And the house that she moved into was empty, except for her. Her house was full of empty bedrooms, and she would be living there alone until September, when the rest of the students came. When move in day came, she drove to her new house with her two sisters. Her two sisters were going to spend the day with her and help her settle in. I knew they were going to be arriving there in the early afternoon, so I watched my phone for any updates from them.
And then I got the call. As I talked about in episode 47 of My True Ghost Stories, my family and friends often call me to assess some new living situation for them, to see if there are any ghosts in their new house. As this is something I am able to do, tell you if there are any ghosts in your new house. And I have, from experience, learned to be honest with those people who are asking me for this assessment. If I see a ghost, I tell them, because lying about it, so they won't be scared, had backfired, backfired with these people living with a haunting that could have been prevented if I had just addressed it immediately.
We can all live in the solution by addressing the problem immediately on taking necessary measures. So, what my daughters called me from that new empty grad schoolhouse to say, Mom, is this house haunted? Tell us the truth. I promised to be 100% honest. So, we began the virtual tour on FaceTime.
At first, from what I could see through the phone, the house was not what I would call beautiful, but it was nice, acceptable. A little dirty, definitely needed some cleaning, but it did not scream haunted, like some spaces that have been shown to me. My daughters walked through the house, living room, dining room. The basement was bad, not haunted, but I could feel the mustiness and unpleasant energy through the phone. So, I told them to lock that door and for my grad school daughter to just stay out of the basement until roommates arrive in September.
She was fine with that. There was nothing she needed to do down there. And since you can't smell anything over the phone, I took their word for it that it smelled really musty. And I could see that some cleaning was definitely needed in some spots in that house, like the kitchen. But so far, on this virtual tour, no ghosts.
But I had only seen the downstairs. And I knew there was a reason that my daughters were calling me. They thought it was haunted, I could tell. So, we headed upstairs, them on foot, me on FaceTime, and always fine on the stairway. And then, I could feel the energy change.
As we walked along, I could feel the energy change from simple mustiness and a little grime to something more on the paranormal side. When we reached the top of the stairs, grad school daughter said, okay mom, there's two bedrooms I can choose from. This one, and she opened the door and showed me a lovely, sunny, square room. And as she panned the phone camera over to the window, I saw a friendly girl ghost suddenly appeared by the window. She hadn't been there when the door had first been opened, but she had appeared after they started showing me the room.
I saw her, took silent note. I knew I would tell my daughters about that girl ghost, but my daughters were already headed down the hall to the other room. So, I figured I would tell them after I had assessed everything they wanted to show me. We approached the door of the second room, and then there's this room, and they swung the door open. If energy could actually spring forward in physical form, like slime or something, that would have happened here.
Just with the opening of this bedroom door, I could feel the most unhappy, negative, and I can really only describe it as disgusting energy, like shooting through the phone at me. And I said loudly, immediately, no, absolutely not, no. But it's so much bigger than the other room, my daughter said, with a disappointed tone, with more closet space, and completely gross energy, I added, absolutely not, you cannot sleep in that room. And after a minute, they said, yeah, we kind of thought so, we felt that bad energy too, and they all agreed. Grad school daughters said that she had been hoping that they would show it to me, and I would say, oh, that room is great.
But instead, I confirmed what they had all three thought that that room had bad, bad energy. I confirmed that she had to take the smaller, only slightly haunted room, down the hall, although they didn't know yet that it was slightly haunted. Now I know I told you all that there was a ghost by the window in that smaller, slightly haunted room, but that was something I knew we could take care of. That ghost was standing with a friendly eager look on her face, right by the window, which I know means that she was just waiting to be crossed over, by me. I knew that that sunny bedroom would be energetically clean, quickly, and easily.
However, that awful room down the hall, the bigger one with all the closet space, and the most horrible energy, was not a situation we could fix over the phone in a short amount of time. I mean, we could begin a process, but no way could we get that room ready for habitation in one day. It would be like removing huge amounts of black mold, putting up new sheet rock, and then painting. That was the level of energy work that needed to go into that room. Obviously, not one day's work.
Now there were no ghosts in that room, but the energy was overwhelmingly bad. And by comparison, crossing that friendly, willing ghost in the sunny bedroom down the hall would be a piece of cake. We were still in the Yucky room. I hadn't told them about the girl ghost yet. There was more to that Yucky room.
Here's a description from one of my daughters. And this is what my daughter said when she described that Yucky bedroom. She said that there were three-feet tall doors all around the room that led into unfinished crawl spaces. And these three-feet tall doors were surrounding the entire room and the doors to these crawl spaces were all duct taped shut. She said that there was a standing wardrobe blocking a door.
And when they moved the wardrobe away, saw the door, they saw that the door was bolted shut. They went outside to investigate where that door might lead to. And when they looked from the outside, they could tell that the door led to a window and that this window could not be linked to any room in the house. So, pretty spooky. Why were there crawl spaces all around the room?
And why, oh why, were the doors to these crawl spaces all duct taped shut? And why was there a standing wardrobe in front of a door, a door that was bolted shut and where did that door lead to? The general consensus among my girls was that the door led to an attic space that the owners of the house did not want the student renters to access. Which would make sense, but still pretty spooky. After seeing and hearing all that, I started to devise a plan.
Still on FaceTime, so I gave them a sort of immediate plan to make the place livable. We only had a few hours before the other two sisters would leave and grad school sister would have to settle in for the night. I told them the situation. We have to start an energy clearing of that room, after which I want you to lock the door and wait until September to open it. But first, we're going to send up the ghost by the window in the other room.
There's a ghost in the other room, they said. Well, thanks for at least telling me. Remember that time when you didn't tell me? Remember? Yes, yes, I remember, I answered.
I'm sorry, I'm telling you this time, okay? We got on with it. We went down the hall to the sunny room. I asked them to open the window and then point the phone towards it. After they opened the window and stepped back to show me, I could see that there was the girl ghost looking friendly and eager.
She knew I could cross her over and was waiting there for me. I don't remember exactly what our communication was, me and the girl ghost. But that girl ghost needed no convincing. She was ready to go. And I did not get the impression that she had been trapped in this particular house.
But I could tell that she was trapped on earth, I needed my help. So I helped. The girl ghost and I communicated and I crossed her over. I can't explain exactly how I crossed them over, but I can tell you that it involves creating a pathway, communication with the spirit and communication with my guides and the spirit's guides. After I sent that girl to the other side, I had my daughters seal up the portal that the girl ghost had left, which they know how to do.
And then I told them to close the window. And then it was time to tackle that other room and the rest of the house. But I did think that it was doable. It would take a lot of effort on my daughter's part, but they were ready. I gave them some instructions, stuff involving smudging, spraying, arm waving, some phrases to repeat, some small rituals to perform.
They were ready and somewhat skilled at this already, like with the portal closing. They found a metaphysical shop nearby and headed out to do some shopping for smudge, Florida water, stuff like that. I was not present for the actual cleaning. They did not keep me on FaceTime while they shopped and cleaned. They knew what to do and that they could call me if there were any questions.
Most importantly was to get an energy cleaning started on the yucky room. When my daughters asked me later to describe why I started yelling, no, absolutely not. As soon as they opened the door to that room, I told them it was like there was contaminated slime or something all over the walls. So now we call it the slime room. But just to get a start on clearing that room, they opened the windows, smudged the whole room, weighed their arms to move some of the energy out of the windows.
And they sprayed with a spiritual concoction that we use for energy clearing. After they did that, I told them to leave a window cracked open and to lock the doors until further notice. Until someone has time to do a thorough in-person job on that room. Which we haven't gotten to do yet. I'll do an episode about that clearing if anything interesting happens.
Some of what they did for the rest of the house was to add Florida water to the steam cleaner. And they focused on the corners and then neglected areas of the house with the intention of dismantling any stagnant energy. They put the Florida water into the washing machine and washed her couch covers. And they smudged the whole house, opened the windows and waved as much energy as they could out of the windows. That evening, the two sisters left the grad student in a somewhat clean, somewhat livable house.
But the two sisters called me from the car and they said, mom, I feel bad leaving her there. It's so spooky. But I assured them that it was safe enough, especially her bedroom. We had sent up the girl ghost by the window and their sister had asked St. Michael to protect her.
They had done basic spiritual cleansing that would make the house a safe place to stay. That evening, my daughter called me from her new grad school house with no other residents. She was super nervous. It's always scary to be in a new house, especially when you are starting a brand new grad school program the next morning at 8 a.m. Me and my daughter talked a little and I encouraged her to call the owner of the house.
Ask about the neighborhood and just ask for some reassurance. I told her to do this because I knew that the owner of the house was the mom of one of the people who lived in a house during the school year. So I figured she would probably have some nice things to tell my nervous daughter. And she did. She told my daughter that she had bought that house knowing that her daughter was going to live there while she went to school.
So she knew that it was a safe neighborhood. She knew that there were friendly neighbors. This conversation with this mom was perfect for my daughter and calmed her right down. During that call, the mom asked my daughter which room she had wound up choosing. The big one or the smaller sunny one.
And my daughter told her that she had chosen the smaller one. Yeah, it's probably better you didn't take the big room. Said that mom. And that mom continued. She said, I don't know exactly what happened but the last girl who lived in that room has decided not to come back.
And let's just say that the house will be better off without her. And my daughter got the impression that there was a great deal of negativity around that girl, around the girl who had lived in the slime room. Was she negative because of the room she was living in? Did the slimy energy and the walls affect her day-to-day interactions with her housemates? Or did her negativity get stuck in those walls?
I don't know which came first. But I know that that room was horrible, disgusting, not inhabitable. I guess we will learn more about the room when someone new moves in in September. And we can see what happens with that person. And I will have my daughter do further spiritual cleaning before the new housemates arrive.
And hopefully, then all the rooms in the house will have a positive, sunny vibe.
