Hello and welcome to episode 69 of my True Ghost Stories. Around the time that I was pregnant with my third baby, I looked in the mirror and I noticed that I had some gray hair. It was pretty horrifying because for some reason I had just thought that I would never go gray, but I had gray hair. How can you be pregnant and have gray hair at the same time? Well, apparently it's very possible because that's what happened to me.

And I thought to myself, oh no, I am not going gray. I had no desire to allow that to happen. And so I immediately contacted an acquaintance of mine who I knew did hair for a living. And she did hair in her apartment. So you could just go over to her house and she would do your hair.

And I guess the whole neighborhood wouldn't see you getting your hair dyed if you were ashamed of that sort of thing. I wanted everyone to think that I was just a natural blonde forever. So I'm gonna call her Lisa because I always change the names. Lisa was a real cool neighborhood lady. And we actually, the reason she was an acquaintance of mine was because we had children the same ages who were in school together.

And she regularly died my hair for me over the years. And so years and years went by and so many different life changes. That third baby, this marriage, that divorce, she didn't get divorced, I got divorced. And she's still my hairdresser now and we have shared a lot of things. And I think when someone is doing your hair, there's a certain level of intimacy in the exchange that you wind up sharing things that you wouldn't necessarily share with just somebody that you were standing around in the school yard with or something like that.

So we sort of became close, but we would only talk every four months when my gray roots grow in. And the mirror tells me it's time to give Lisa a call. So during these hair dyeing sessions, which still go on every four months, during these hair dyeing sessions, I would share a lot of things that I was going through because I wanted to go through a divorce, not that long after she started dyeing my hair. So I shared a lot of what I was going through there. We shared about the kids and she also shared with me about her family and she shared with me about her dad.

A few years after we had met Lisa's dad, became ill and he had a very prolonged illness and she was kind of his primary caretaker. Although there were many siblings, she was the primary caretaker because she lived nearby him. And they had had a long complicated relationship but had made peace by this time that he got sick. They had made peace with each other. And they had come to a good place with each other before this illness.

So the illness went on, the hair dyeing went on. And eventually one of the visits, when I showed up at Lisa's apartment to get my hair done, Lisa told me that her dad was very ill and the end was near. And it was true. Possibly a week or two later, I found out that Lisa's dad had passed away and I also found out the information about where the wake was. And the wake was very close to my house was the local funeral parlour and so I of course made plans to head up there and pay my respects.

Now this funeral parlour, I once had an incredible experience there, not as a medium but as a local. I went to one wake for a person that I knew and they had three rooms in there, so they would have three wakes going on at once. And I went into the one room. And as I was walking to the room, they have the names of the people that have passed up on the wall, like on the bulletin board or whatever in the front of the funeral parlour. And I looked at the three names and I knew all three people.

They were all family members of people that I knew. And so I was so impressed with how efficient I was going to get to be here and I just went to all three wakes in one shot. I had not known that the other two people had died. I had just gone for the one wake, but there was the other two. So I got to sign the register and appear to be a really good neighbor that had come out to pay my respects, which I had, but this is the same funeral parlour.

The funeral parlour where at least his dad was being waked. It was the same funeral parlour that I got to go to all three wakes at once, which is very unlikely to ever happen again. And after going to these three wakes in one afternoon, I was so impressed with myself and my efficiency that as I was leaving the funeral parlour, I said to the guy at the front desk, I was like, I just went to all three wakes and he looked at me like, and he just said, oh, I'm so sorry. And I realized, this is not something that a funeral parlour director is going to high five we about and I realized, oh, I need to be more respectful here, at least in vocalizing that I was able to attend three wakes in one afternoon. So I went to the funeral parlour.

It was a, it's not a long walk from my house and I went in. I looked at the names on the bulletin board and no, I did not know the other people who were being waked that afternoon. And I went into the one where at least his dad was and I knew a few people, few locals and Lisa was up at the front with her siblings and she was greeting everybody as we came by, you know, that's what you do, you come and you sort of line up and wait for that conversation to end and then you, you know, kneel in front of the coffin and say a prayer. And so I, as I approached Lisa, actually, as I was waiting for her conversation to finish, I realized that the spirit of her dad was there. But the spirit of her dad was all the way up in the ceiling, in the corner of the room, the right hand corner of the room and he was all the way up and his, just his feet were showing.

It's like he had ascended almost completely and just his feet were still lingering in the room. They were still attached to the rest of his spirit. It was not that he had left his feet behind. It was that he was almost ascended. And in my experience, this was very early for a spirit to be ascending.

It's usually for me in my experience in the middle of the funeral, but this was the first day of the wake and he was almost all the way gone. And this was a good thing. This meant that he was not lingering around, that he had no regrets, that he was ready to go, but he was going up at a very slow rate because it was early and I imagine he was trying not to just exit. So he was very slowly ascending, but he was ascending right away. Even though it was very slow, he was ascending pretty much right away.

So after Lisa finished her conversation with the people that were ahead of me on the quote unquote line, I went over to Lisa and she knows a little bit about me and my psychic abilities or my medium abilities and she said, you know, is he here? And I told her, I said, sort of. He is almost all the way completely gone and he's just lingering up there in the corner and to be honest, I can only see his feet. And it's a good thing. He is not stuck, he's leaving, but he doesn't want to leave too fast.

And I told her this is a good thing. This means he does not have mixed feelings and he is satisfied and he's ready to move on. And she was very happy to hear this. I didn't talk too much about it with her because there was more people on the line behind me and I try not to dump too much on people at the wake. I really much better at it now, but I used to tell people way too much.

Just in a few weeks, I made the mistake of telling people about the spirit of their loved one that had died and I feel really bad about that, but I have learned my lesson and I don't do that anymore. And she did ask, so I had that going. She did ask. So as we wrapped up our conversation about her dad being half ascended up in the corner there, I said he is going to have a very smooth transition and she was so happy to hear that. So I left, I signed the register, I looked back and the feet were still there.

He was really lingering there, he wasn't moving on, but I could tell he was obviously going to move on as soon as he was ready, which was obviously going to be very soon because he had almost 75% exited the room already. Lisa continued to do my hair every four months and we would talk about her dad, we would talk about grief, we would talk about what I had said to her at the wake and how encouraged she was for that, that as dramatic of a relationship they had had that he had had with his other children that he was satisfied and he was ascending and not going to remain trapped, that had given her a lot of peace and I'm glad I was able to do that. And it was about a year later, a few hair appointments later that, at that point Lisa was coming to my house to do my hair because she had moved to another borough and she came to my house and she was doing my hair and she said, oh, I forgot to tell you, I went to a psychic to ask about my father and she said I wanted to know, you know, how he is on the other side and does he have any messages for me and she said that the psychic told her unprompted that he had had a very smooth transition and I was so excited to hear that because I was right and as confident as I am in this work, it's always nice to get a little confirmation from another psychic or another medium that my take on things was correct and in this case I truly, truly believe now that it was correct that he had a very smooth transition. I think it was a slow transition out of that room but it was not a troubled transition and he didn't need any assistance at all. So as the years have gone by, Lisa continues to do my hair.

We continue to chat about her dad. She is still grieving but she is accepting that he's passed on and she's happy that he had a very smooth transition.
