Pacing Dentist Office Ghost

A pacing spirit in a dentist's office gets my attention, but I am unable to help. Welcome to episode 62 of My True Ghost Stories. This story takes place at my former dentist's office. I don't go there anymore, but it was a dentist's office that I went too often in a certain period of my life. And this particular dentist's office was far from my home.
It was a long drive up Ford Hamilton Parkway. And the Ford Hamilton Parkway is a two-lane road, extremely busy that I talked about in an episode from August, where I saw a spirit on the back of a truck while crawling down Ford Hamilton Parkway. And this dentist's office was way, way, way, way, all the way up Ford Hamilton Parkway. And I had a long drive to get there. And then once I got to the block where I needed to make a right or a left, I would get lost.
So it was so far up there that I had an old school, like when the GPS first came out, I had a garment. And I didn't know how to turn the garment off. So I would put it in my bag and then it would just keep saying things during my whole dentist appointment, which was really embarrassing. But I didn't know how to turn it off. But anyway, that was how far away it was from my house that I had a very long drive.
And I had to make a whole bunch of twists and turns once I finally got up there. The reason I had a dentist that was so far from my house was because this dentist took my not yet ex-husbands insurance. And I was still on my ex-husbands, dental insurance. So I went up to this dentist, plus he was a really good dentist. Definitely not a convenient location for me.
And he did not do root canals, which is a bit of a problem for someone like me who often needs root canals. But one of the perks of this place is that there was good parking. When I finally would reach there, I would always be able to get a parking spot. This dentist's office was in the basement level of a residential house, kind of like the orthodontist's office that I talked about in an episode from last year. And I find that these old houses are often haunted.
And that holds true for this house where the dentist's office was. At this practice, there was a small crew. There was a friendly receptionist. There was the dental hygienist who every time she cleaned my teeth, she would spend the whole time complaining about her husband. So I don't know what was up with that, but I was a captive audience.
So I would have to listen to her complaints about her husband. And then there was the dental assistant who was really cool and nice. But the dental assistant was the coolest person in that office. And then there was the dentist who was very nice, a little hard to read, but very nice. So when you would walk around this office, it was obvious that they had sectioned off whatever this basement level of this house used to be into small exam rooms.
And in the bathroom, there was, it was like a regular bathroom with a bathtub and a shower. But in the bathtub was the dental vacuum machine that controls the suction that the dental office uses. So when I would come in, I would say hello to the friendly receptionist, I would go in. And not when I was getting my teeth cleaned in the hygienist room, but when I would be in the dentist's office and they had, they had two different rooms that they worked in. When I was in the dentist's office, getting whatever I had to get done that visit and the dental assistant would be on my left and I could sort of see over the tools that they were using in my mouth.
I could see over it to the wall. And on the wall by my feet was a window, like one of those basement windows that's up of the top of the wall. And that would be what I would look at was that wall and that window. And then one day as I was sitting there having the work done, I noticed a ghost. I noticed a ghost and it was a man and he came through the wall on my left by the dental assistant walked across the room and went through the wall on my right by the dentist.
And it just like he was going somewhere, he didn't stop, he didn't look at me, he didn't pause. He just walked from that one side of the room to the other side of the room, but he went through the wall. So he was obviously having a much longer walk than just the length of that tiny room. And then a few minutes later, he came back. He walked through the wall on the right and kept going and then walked through the wall on the left.
And yes, a few minutes later, he came through the wall on the left back on the right and so on and so on. I didn't say anything. Well, you can't say anything when your mouth is full of dental instruments, but I, you know, kept it to myself. And the next time I came, because I'm always having dental work done, I'm not lucky that way. I take very good care of my teeth, but for some reason I always have to have worked on on my teeth.
So the next time I came, same thing. I'm laying there, mouthful of dental instruments, dental assistant on my left dentist on my right. And here comes the ghost coming through the wall on the left and going through to the right, coming back a few minutes later. And he would just go back and forth the whole time, never pausing to look at me. He was headed somewhere and then he was headed back.
At this time, I was still in my, what I like to call my blabbing to all days. I would see a ghost and I would tell people. For some reason, I had not told them, I guess I'm sort of rare, self-restraint at that time. I had not told them the first time I saw this ghost, but the second time I saw the ghost, I was like, oh, I have to tell them. I have since learned, as I've said many times on this podcast, I have since learned that you're not supposed to deliver messages or tell people about ghosts if they don't want to know about it, if they haven't hired me to do so or asked for my input.
At that time, I just felt like I had to tell everybody. And maybe this ghost was bothering them, maybe they would help them to know about it. So once all this stuff came out of my mouth and I was still a little numb, so I probably slurred my words a little bit while I was telling them what I said mostly to the dental assistant who I thought was really cool and I liked her. I said, you know, there's a ghost in this basement. And she said, what?
And I said, yeah, yeah, I'm a medium and I can see ghosts and I can tell you that there's a guy and he just sort of walks back and forth through the walls here. And she was so fascinating. She'd tell me more or tell me more. And I didn't really have that much except that the guy walks back and forth through this room and probably through the other rooms. So she called the receptionist and the receptionist came into the room and she said, Jennifer tells us that there's a ghost in this basement and it walks around through the walls.
And the receptionist said, oh, I don't want to know about that. I don't want to know about that. I'm too scared. I'm scared of ghosts. And so that's sort of a reason why you don't just tell people these things, but I didn't know at the time.
So the receptionist ran back to her desk basically with her fingers over her ears saying, I don't want to know. I don't want to know. So that's fine. Oh, sorry. And then the dental assistant called the hygienist in and the hygienist was mildly interested, but she didn't really seem to believe in these things.
And now the dentist had overheard this whole thing. He was like right outside the office when I told her that and he came back in the room while we were still talking about it. And he looked so annoyed with the whole thing like it was the stupidest thing he'd ever heard. And he wouldn't even engage in this conversation. And basically at that point, he wouldn't even look at me.
So I decided to sort of drop it, you know, because one out of the four people that worked there seemed to be interested in this. One was terrified. One was disinterested. And one was really annoyed. Almost to the level of being angry.
I don't know what that was about, but that's how it went. So I was going to that dentist quite regularly. I was having some sort of regular work done with some dental problem I was having. And every time I went, that ghost was always there doing this pacing thing. And that dental assistant would say, is he here?
Is he here? And the receptionist would not talk to me about it. And I was smart enough to know not to bring it up with her because she was scared. And I was smart enough to know not to bring it up to the hygienist who seemed quite disinterested in the whole thing. But I would talk to the dental assistant about it.
And not in front of the dentist because I didn't want to anger him. And that ghost was always there. And he never paused to look at me. And I always had my mouth full of stuff so I couldn't really communicate with him. And when the visit was over, I couldn't bring myself to ask, can I stay in this room for a few minutes to try and interrupt this ghost?
It just was not the right atmosphere for that to happen. So I eventually stopped going there. When my divorce was final, I was no longer on my ex-husband's insurance. So I found a dentist much closer to me. And I no longer had to deal with that horrible drive up the Ford Hamilton Parkway.
But I did recently look up that house. I looked up the address of that dentist's office. And it was built in 1950 and it was built on land. It was the first thing built there. It's not like they knocked something else down and put it up.
And so since this was land before, I don't think that this ghost was haunting like what used to be their house. It seemed to me that this ghost was walking like they were taking a walk. And I feel like maybe this was his land or maybe it was land that was open to the public. But this ghost was retracing steps that did not include this pavement construction, walls, plumbing. It looked to me like an outdoor walk.
And that ghost did not seem to stress. Possibly lost but really just walking around, well actually walking back and forth. And I hope that when it is time for him to ascend, someone will be there to help him. Thank you so much for listening to this episode of My True Ghost Stories.
