Hello and welcome to episode 88 of My True Go Stories. Today I'm going to tell you a story that is very current, things that are going on right now. I'm going to tell you that I, Jennifer, in the next few weeks, am getting married. Yes, that's right. I know that just a few weeks ago, I told a story about how I had had a birthday.

It was a very large number, but people with a very large number in age also get married and I'm one of them and I'm very excited. So this whole past year that I've been doing this podcast, I've been also planning a wedding. And as you know, most of us who have gotten married, a big part of the wedding is the dress. So I, I'm going to tell you the story today about my wedding dress. So when I started planning this wedding after this wonderful proposal that I totally knew was coming, after this wonderful proposal, we started planning and when and everything and I said, I need a dress.

That's one of the most fun parts of this whole thing is getting the dress. So I started thinking about it and I started visualizing what I want and I do not want a standard white dress that's not where I'm at in life. So I just decided to picture something that would be wedding like and very personal. And I did like a meditation like I do before I'm going on a job. I did a meditation.

I said, show me my dress. And in this meditation, the vision that I got was an off white floor length slip dress, you know, straight doesn't poop out. I don't really know fashion terminology, but you know, like it's sort of straight. It doesn't go out to the sides. So I imagined it was an off white floor length dress that I would wear with flats and it had large pastel flowers all over it.

This is the image that I got in this visualization and I said, oh, that is a beautiful dress that I'm seeing in my mind. How am I going to find a dress like this? So I didn't know. I already had the shoes. They're actually shoes that I bought for somebody else's wedding and I danced in them all night and they're not scuffed up.

So I figured I'll just wear those because I know I can dance in them and they really go well with this dress, this picture of this dress that's in my mind. So now all I have to do is find that dress. So all the other wedding planning went along and I continue to just look in store windows and thrift stores and it's going to present itself to me this wedding dress. I don't know or something like it or maybe I'm just going to have to change my plan altogether and wear a different dress. But I really wanted the one that had come to me in my vision.

So at this point in the story we're going to rewind many decades. Many decades back to when I was in the third grade, eight years old. So I was in the third grade, I was eight years old. I was like with my dad or with a babysitter or something and my mother was shopping with no kids with her. Which I'm sure she really appreciated to get a little time away from the kids to go shopping.

So she was in the sea caucus mall and it was closing time. There was you know a half an hour left until the store closed and she was in Mandy. I don't know if you all know Mandy. But the Mandy stores can really yield some good stuff. So my mother was in Mandy at closing time in the sea caucus mall with no kids with her.

And she tried on this dress. She got it off of the rack and she took it into the dressing room alone. She didn't try on anything else and she tried on this dress. And she said that they looked great on her. And now my mother is the opposite of a compulsive spender.

My mother does not buy things that she doesn't need. In fact she has to try hard like myself to buy something that she needs. She really tries to make things last. It's a beautiful quality. So she does not buy things that she doesn't need.

So she tried on this dress and she said it looked beautiful on her. And she said that she looked at herself in this dress in the mirror. She pictured herself in some situation that she had never been in. And she pictured herself in some life that she had never led or never anticipated leading. But she said she looked in the mirror at herself in that dress and she said to herself.

In that dressing room at the Mandy stores at closing time in the sea caucus mall, she said to herself in the mirror, she said, if you don't buy this dress, you're going to be sorry. She said to herself that she would wear this dress in a life that she might never have and not even a life that she particularly wanted. But she did have that thought if you don't buy this dress, you're going to be sorry. So she bought it. She came home.

She took it out of the bag. We were already asleep or something. Maybe we were with a babysitter or we were with my dad. Maybe he was watching us. I don't know.

But I never saw this dress because she took it out of the bag, looked at it in the mirror and put it in a box and put it in the attic. That dress never sold a light of day after the lights in the Mandy dressing room. That dress was never seen again for a very long time. She kept the tags on it and the situation as she says never arose that she would wear that dress. Now my mom, she declutters.

She gets rid of stuff. It's amazing. She just gets rid of stuff every time you go to my mother's house. There's a box of stuff in the front hallway and she says, help yourself to any of that because it's going to the goodwill. And so sometimes you can get some good stuff out of there.

Sometimes you don't. But my mom declutters. Now this dress in this box in the attic at my mother's house survived so many decluttering passes, decades worth of decluttering passes. So it just sat up there, untouched for many years. She would look at it and say, I don't know why, but there's some reason why I have to keep this.

Even though she would never keep something else that was for a life that she would never have or a situation that she would never be in. For some reason, this dress she just kept it. So this dress finally saw the light of day. My daughters loved to go through grandma's attic and they find these cool vintage things and say, oh, grandma, can I have this? Can I wear this?

This is so cool. My mom keeps the good stuff. And so my daughter, she found this dress in a Mandy box in the attic and she said, grandma, can I have this dress? My mother said sure. And she thought, maybe, maybe this is why I kept this dress all these years.

And so she gave it to my daughter. Now my daughter has been living in San Diego for the last six years and she wore this dress on her birthday last year. And she went out with her boyfriend and they had some stranger. Take a picture of them as a couple standing in front of this restaurant. And she texted this picture to me and my mom, her grandmother, and there's my daughter in this picture.

And she's wearing an off-white dress. She's wearing a white floor-length dress with large pastel flowers all over it. And I said, that's my wedding dress. That's the dress that came to me in my head. So I called her, you know, I don't really text my daughters that much.

I called her. And I said, where did you get that dress? And she said, I got it in grandma's attic. And she was in a Mandy box inside a big plastic bin. And I said, that's my wedding dress.

That's the wedding dress that I've been visualizing and fantasizing about and looking in store windows for. I said, do not get any stains on that dress. Take it off. Don't wear it anymore and put it in a box and hide it someplace. So my daughter promised to do that.

And then I called my mom. And I said, mom, where did you get that dress? That dress that your granddaughter is wearing in that picture that she just texted to us. That's my wedding dress. And my mother told me the story about being in Mandy in the sea caucus mall at closing time, trying on this dress, buying it and having no idea why she bought it.

Well, we all know now why she bought it. She bought it because she experienced some sort of time slip where she saw my second wedding coming and me looking for a dress and me needing this dress. And me and my mom just participated in this psychic interchange that persisted over decades. And now it has come to fruition. So my daughter was coming to visit from San Diego and I said, put that dress in your suitcase right now.

Don't lose your suitcase. Put it in your carry on. Don't put it in a suitcase. You know, I was desperate to get this dress into my own possession. Now that it had been shown to me through the powers that be with a text from my daughter and all these things that happened.

So she arrived. I gave her a hug and a kiss and I said, give me my dress. And so she gave me the dress. Two of my daughters were home at that time and I sent them into the other room so I could try it on. I said, what please fit?

I thought it probably would because me and my mom are a similar shape. And I said, please let it fit. And so I took it out of the box in there. It was that was the dress, the one in my vision, the one that I had never seen until I saw it in that picture of my daughter. I'm holding the dress and I put it on over my head.

And I could tell right away just from it going to my shoulders that this dress was going to fit. And then it slid down over my shoulders and then over my hips and down to the floor. It has buttons in the back. I was able to close up some of them and this dress fit perfectly. This dress looks like it was custom made for me.

So I walked out into the living room and there's my daughters and I said, you guys and they said, oh my god, it looks so good. So the power of psychic connection and the universe making plans resulted in this dress being delivered to me in this dress being bought for me when I was in the third grade and saved for me for many decades until it was time to wear it. And I am so grateful to everyone involved for bringing me my wedding dress. Thank you so much for listening to today's episode.
