two sides of the same spirit with opposite ideas. One wants to stay on Earth and the other wants to cross over. How can I help? Welcome to episode 48 of My True Ghost Stories. I had a neighbor many years ago and she was my grandmother's age and we had a little bit of a grandmother granddaughter relationship.

Parenting advice, visits, cookies, really nice stuff. She dressed modestly, kept a beautiful home and she was a delight to chat with. I had of course met her husband and they seemed to have a good relationship and the dynamic between them was definitely what some would consider old fashioned. Without going into any details here about cooking and cleaning or anything, I will say that this neighbor, a couple of mine had a different dynamic than people my age. I know all families have their own culture but let's just say that the cooking and cleaning with this husband and wife was done by one person and you can guess which person that was.

I'm going to call this neighbor Robin for this episode and eventually after my many years of knowing her, Robin's health began to decline. There were occasional ambulances outside the home. There were some home aids that came into help her. Her cognition began to fade and eventually Robin's family decided that she would receive better care in an assisted living facility. One nearby where they could visit often, especially her husband.

After she moved to that facility, I missed her as a neighbor and I would ask her husband and other family members how she was doing whenever I ran into them. And for a while she was doing okay, the news was, it stayed like that and after a few years, she gradually stopped eating a family member told me and that after much deliberation, they had decided to give her a feeding tube. As time went by, she talked less and less and then she stopped talking altogether. And then the family moved her from the assisted living facility to a nursing home and eventually she went into a perpetual sleeping state. And I don't really know what it was medically called but a little research today gave me the term minimally conscious state which I think described somewhat what was going on.

Although nobody ever told me that term in regards to Robin. Her husband told me that she wasn't being kept alive by any machines except the feeding tube so they were gonna keep it like this. There was no indication that she would ever wake up but she wasn't suffering at least physically so they were going to keep it like this. I thought of her often and I would always look at her house as I passed it, wishing she would come out on the porch like she used to do and chat with me. I thought about visiting her but I didn't know how the family would feel about that but every time I walked past her house, I thought about visiting her in the nursing home.

And her spirit must have picked up on this thought of mine for although she was not suffering physically, as the family said, there was some suffering going on and she let me know about it. And this is how she let me know. One night I had a dream. I could tell right away that it was a vision style dream, a message dream and in this dream, a woman was walking quickly across a room towards me. When she got closer, I saw that this woman was wearing a long 70s style blue chiffon maxi vest over a white pantsuit.

And I could tell by her stride that she was angry. In this dream, when the woman got even closer, I saw that it was robin. I had not recognized her in this dream because this was not how I had ever seen her dress. As I said before, she always dressed very modestly. But this blue chiffon maxi dress was showy and flirty.

Aside of robin, I had never seen. I had also not recognized her because she was never angry. Or at least she never showed anger. And this spirit, this visitor in my dream-named robin, was mad. And she strode angrily and quickly across that room, I wretchedly towards me.

And then in a very nightmarish twist, her face sort of jumped forward from the rest of her body until it was right in front of mine. When are you coming? You say you want to come and you never come. The spirit said to me. In this dream, I did not respond to robin spirit.

And she went on. She said, she won't leave, she won't give this up. This visitation dream went on. As robin spirit was ranting about this someone who wouldn't leave, wouldn't give this up, she moved her angry face out of the way and gestured behind her. And there, behind her, laying in a hospital bed, sleeping on her back, head propped up, was a different robin, the robin I knew, a modest mild-mannered housewife, a modest mild-mannered housewife who was sleeping in a hospital bed.

While this other robin, the spectacularly dressed angry, arm-waving woman walked around ranting. Ranting about how she, the robin in the bed, wouldn't give this up. Wow. I knew that both of these people were robin. And it seems that there was some sort of simultaneous real robin that wanted out.

And there was some struggle going on in that hospital room between what were obviously two sides of the same woman, a quiet, dare I say, a subservient housewife laying quietly in the bed. And this other person, a glamorous, outspoken, modern woman pacing around and contacting others, namely me, for help in getting out of this, help to move on. In other words, help to have this body die so the next phase could begin. This dream startled me awake. The face lunging forward at me and the sheer intensity of robin's anchor maybe want to get out of there once I heard her message.

So I woke up. Waking up is the best way to get out of a scary dream. Well, I guess I have to go see Robin, I said in the middle of the night there. And I wrote it down on a paper, I keep next to my bed for this exact type of thing. Middle of the night messages that I might not remember by the morning, I wrote, go see Robin at nursing home, talk to Robin's other side, that's next to the bed.

Then talk to the Robin who was in the bed, figure out how you can help. Having written it down, I was able to go back to sleep and Robin did not visit me again that night. I guess she knew now because I had written it down that I was going to come see her and her other half. And I did. I knew the name of the nursing home Robin was in, so I looked it up.

I figured out how to get there and I headed out the next afternoon. I told my family as I was leaving about my message dream from Robin where I was headed and why. My family, knowing Robin and knowing how long she had been sleeping, thought this was a great idea and wished me luck as I headed for the train. I did not ask permission from Robin's family. And I don't know if that was the right choice.

They might have thought it was weird that I was going to visit her in the nursing home. I certainly couldn't tell them that her alter ego had visited me in a dream and I had to go there to facilitate a conversation between her two sides. And also, I was being guided to keep this primarily between Robin and me. It's possible that whatever her family dynamics were, those dynamics would interfere with this visit. Her family probably, because they loved her, didn't want her to move on or to die.

And she, Robin, at least the part of Robin in the bed, probably did not want to leave them. Those factors, I believe, were prolonging this sleeping state. Those factors were key being Robin's body here and frustrating the glamorous woman side of her who obviously had some business to get to on the other side. So I went to the nursing home, hoping that no family would be there when I got there. It was a weekday morning and they all worked so I figured it would be safe.

And Robin's spirit might have approached me when she did knowing that the next day would be clear. It was an easy trip, a straight shot on the train and the address was right near the stop. I got there quickly. I went in. It was a hot summer day so I deeply appreciated the blast of air conditioning that hit me when I entered.

I walked to the main desk and asked the nurse for Robin's room number. I signed in and I glanced at that day's entries and I saw nobody from Robin's family on the list and I headed down the hall. I suppose the family might have seen my name on the list there eventually, like if they came in later that afternoon or something, but I had been called to service and I couldn't let this fear of being caught stop me. Not that this was a bad thing at all. Visiting a dear neighbor at the nursing home, I mean, what would they say?

How dare you visit our mother? Probably not. But I just intuitively knew that this visit had to be between me and Robin only, no family. I found Robin's room. The door was open.

I walked in. It was bright, sunny and clean. The air conditioning was delightful. And in a hospital bed in the corner, right next to the big window was Robin, sleeping and looking beautiful. It seemed like I could just go touch your shoulder and she would wake up, but I knew from her family's accounts that this was not the case.

She would not wake up. Instead I walked in and I said, hi, Robin, it's me, Jennifer. And then as I crossed the room toward her sleeping body, that spirit from my dream, glamorous Robin appeared standing between the bed and the window, wearing her blue chiffon maxi vest. She was gesturing and fatically at the Robin in the bed. You see, she said, you see what I'm dealing with?

Okay, I said, yes, I see. Let me sit down. I decided to sit down on the chair at the end of the bed, putting my purse down on the floor. I watched sleeping Robin's chest rise and fall, rise and fall a few times. I asked blue chiffon Robin to give me a minute to gather my thoughts and assess what I was going to do.

I sat there with my eyes closed. I could feel the impatience of the glamorous Robin standing near the window, but I also started to get a little communication from sleeping Robin in the bed. I opened my eyes. I looked at the sleeping Robin in front of me. I got into a message receiving zone.

At first, I couldn't get any words and a message from her, just a feeling, a feeling of indecision and hesitance. So I focused further and I finally got some words. Sleeping Robin said, I'm not sure if I can go. Now I knew that it wasn't my place to tell her to stay or to go, but I did know that it was up to her that she was not obligated to stay if she didn't want to. And I knew that this angry frustrated, glamorous spirit woman who was standing next to her bed was also her, a very strong part of her, an assertive, decisive part of her, the side of her that had gone out and gotten me, gotten me to come here, let me know exactly how she felt.

And I think this spirit was showing me traits that Robin would have liked to use while she was walking around on this earth. I think that Robin would have liked to be assertive, decisive and speak her mind like this glamorous spirit was. But her circumstances, her marriage, her family, society, probably her upbringing, those things had squashed those powerful characteristics of her. She had opted on this earth to show only a quieter, less confrontational version of herself. But that assertive side of Robin had obviously not gone wet.

It was standing there, having had it with this indecisive side. And she was pushing with all her might to get to the other side and do whatever it was she had to do over there. Something pretty cool, I bet. So the argument between the two sides began because now I was in tune with sleeping Robin as well as glamorous Robin. And all the communication was going through me.

Stuff like, let's go. And put the kids and then the kids will be fine. And then put they don't want me to go. It went on and on and after about an hour. I, the medium facilitating this whole exchange was becoming exhausted.

Plus it wasn't really going anywhere. Robin's two personality spirits here were in a stalemate. And it was becoming clear that it was not quite time for Robin's soul to completely leave her body. Even though half of her soul was pacing around the room, totally ready to go. But finally, we, myself, glamorous Robin spirit, Robin spirit laying in the bed, we three finally reached a compromise.

I got the sense that bed ridden Robin knew that eventually she wanted to pass on. And I knew because of communication from my guides and hers and from experience that she would need some help crossing over. So I asked for guidance from my guides and St. Michael told me to create a pathway from that nursing home room up to the other side. And a pathway that glamorous Robin would stand at one end.

And bed ridden Robin when she was ready would be able to pass through and join glamorous Robin. And then they could, I guess, hopefully become one and cross over together. I stood next to her between the bed and the window. I talked to them both. I held my arms up at an angle, creating a pathway from the bed through the window and up into the sky.

I explained to glamorous blue chiffon Robin that when it was time, she would go to the upward end of that portal and catch her other half. Catch her when bed ridden Robin was finally ready to leave her body. And I explained to bed ridden Robin then when she was ready that she should go up through that pathway and I showed it to her, go up through that pathway and join your other half. And after all that, I was completely exhausted. So I said goodbye to them both.

Robin's body was still sleeping in the bed. Glamorous Robin's spirit was still standing next to the bed. Although now, glamorous Robin seemed more patient. She was just standing there with her hands clasped in front of her. Goodbye you two.

I said, as I solidified the pathway one more time with my arms, I picked up my bag and I headed for the door completely exhausted. Everything was set up. I had done what I had been sent to do and now it was out of my hands. It was about eight weeks later that Robin finally passed away, peacefully as I was told by her family. At the wake, I told Robin's daughter a little about the dream I had, just the part about the blue chiffon dress and the strong personality.

Oh, I never got to see that part of her, said the daughter and the daughter then said, I hope that's who she gets to be in heaven. And I also hope that that's who Robin gets to be in heaven. Along with being the kind, friendly and helpful good neighbor, I hope that in heaven, Robin is also glamorous, assertive and not afraid to tell people what she needs.
