Funky Guest Room

Hello and welcome to episode 85 of my true ghost stories. If you've been listening to this podcast, you know that I live in New York City and you know that a lot of my family lives in New York City or in New Jersey right across the river. So there's a lot of family around and my father, he has an apartment, a four bedroom apartment on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. Now that's not where I grew up. I didn't grow up on the Upper West Side and it's a long story, but he and his wife lived there now and they raised three kids there together, but they have an empty nest now.

So there's three empty bedrooms in this apartment and one of them has a pair of bunk beds in them and they just think just never moved the bunk beds after the kids moved out and then the other one is right off the living room and it has a single bed and a lot of closet space and then there's their room where my dad and his wife sleep and then there is this guest room. Now to look at this room, if you just looked at the picture and didn't feel any energy, you'd think this is a very nice bedroom. It's got beautiful pink walls and a nice bed with a beautiful quilt on it and a tasteful bookcase with some books on it and a desk and one dresser and some hooks on the wall. It's just a very nice attractive looking bedroom. However, there's some kind of weird energy in there.

Well, there used to be some kind of weird energy in there. This story is about that energy and over the years, many of the inhabitants of this room because my dad and his wife, they host a lot of people. So a lot of people will stay for a while at their apartment since they have this empty nest and they're very generous people. Many people have lived for a while in this guest bedroom and anyone who's got any sort of psychic sensitivity has been very unhappy in this guest bedroom. And me, personally, a medium who sees ghosts and senses energies, me sleeping in there, it was horrible.

I had a horrible night sleep every time I stayed over and slept in that room. So my experience would be, I'd go to bed, the bed's really comfortable, I would get in the bed and then I couldn't fall asleep and then I would wake up constantly and the window to the room is on the courtyard but it's not noisy in the courtyard at night. I would just, I just couldn't sleep in there and this is what other people have described in that room. So my dad, for a while, he had injured his back, he had hurt his back and he was staying in that room and then after that whole ordeal was over, he said, there's something wrong with that bedroom and he was telling me this on the phone and I had just recently told my dad that I see ghosts and I help ghosts cross over and I clear energy. I just recently told him that so he was calling me to find out what is up with that room and I didn't know.

Now I had slept in that room, I had bad sleep in that room but I had never meditated which is what I need to do to find out what supernatural thing might be going on in a place. I had not meditated on it or even wondered why I had a bad night's sleep, I just figured I had a bad night's sleep and it just always seemed to happen in that guest room. But this call from my dad made me think, maybe there's more to that bedroom than just bad sleep. So after my dad called me, I did meditate. I decided to meditate on what was going on in the guest room at my dad's apartment on the Upper West Side.

And as I did this meditation, I saw the inside of the room and I had this vision of three chiffon scarves, three chiffon scarves in like red, purple and blue and they were whipping and flying around the room. You'd think that chiffon scarves is a pretty thing but it was not a pleasant sight. They were whipping in this like grotesque way around the room, like thrashing around. In my meditation, I did not see a ghost and these scarves represented some trapped, negative energy that was in that room and couldn't get out. I don't know if the energy was trying to get out but it was certainly slamming against the walls and the ceiling and the floor.

So I said, oh, I must clean that room. I have to clean the energy out of that room. But I didn't know how. I was a little bit new to the whole thing and I didn't know, like I knew how to cross a ghost over and talk to the ghost and find out what the ghost needs but I didn't know how to deal with a room where the problem was strictly one of energy. So I knew who knows how to do this.

So I went to the Botanica and I talked to Johnny at the Botanica and Johnny listened to my story and he outlined this plan for me. Now the reason this story about the room in my dad's house and going to the Botanica and talking to Johnny, the reason this is the subject of this week's podcast is because I was getting my stuff out of this cabinet that I have, my witchy cabinet for a job that I was doing this week. I was doing a clearing job in Manhattan and getting the specific supplies that I needed for that particular job out in order to put them into my bag and head to Manhattan. And as I was going through this cabinet, I was pulling out this white candle from the back and behind it I saw this piece of paper sticking up out behind this little shelf and I pulled it up and it was my notes from that day in the Botanica when I went to ask Johnny about how to clear the energy out of my dad's guest room. I do remember standing there on one side of the counter while Johnny stood on the other side of the counter at the Botanica and I remember him outlining this plan for me and giving me different supplies to buy because at that time I had no supplies.

So he was giving me the supplies and he was saying, okay, do this with this and do this with this. And this is what the notes say from Johnny many years ago before I cleaned the guest room at my father's house. It says, light a white candle and put it in the doorway. Put a clear glass of water next to it in the doorway. Say 10 hour fathers while you work, open up a portal in the ceiling and send the energy through the portal in the ceiling.

Do that together with my family. So my father and his wife were going to say the 10 hour fathers together with me while I pushed the energy up with my hands through this portal that I had opened up and then I was supposed to send them out of the room and then I was supposed to sage the whole room. Johnny, that day sold me a white candle, an empty glass, a big smudge, which is this thing that you burn to eliminate energy, a big smudge and he gave to me, he didn't sell it to me, he gave me a copy of the Lord's Prayer which I already knew but anyway he said and have everybody say this while you work. And he said that what he saw because he's also a medium, he saw that there was no ghost there which is what I had thought and that there was some sort of residue in the room that needed to be cleaned out. After Johnny rang me up and I paid and he put it all in a bag for me and he handed it to me and he says to me, he's a Brooklyn guy, he says, you better be charging for this.

And I said, Johnny, it's for my dad and he was still, he's like, no, you're putting your time into this, look at this, you're buying things, this is taking a huge chunk out of your day, you need to be charging for this. Well, I said, okay, well maybe I didn't want to argue with him because he's really cool and he's a tough Brooklyn guy and I didn't want to argue and say, well I can't charge my dad and everything like this, he was adamant, you need to be charging for this, you cannot do this for free. End of the day, I did not charge my dad for this service but I did realize that there needs to be an energy exchange for this service as they call it in certain woo woo circles and energy exchange meaning I do this for you and you give me money basically, are you give me something back. But Johnny being this Brooklyn guy, he's like, you need to get paid. So I definitely learned a lot from that visit although I did not charge my father but I did put out that intention that I would begin energy exchanges or getting paid after I cleaned my dad's funky guest room.

So that weekend I packed all my supplies that Johnny had sold me into a little special red bag and I headed up on the train to the Upper West Side to do the clearing of my father's guest room. I got there, I set up, I put the candle in the doorway, I took the glass that Johnny had sold me and I filled it with water and I put it in the doorway of the room next to the candle. I got the smudge ready with some matches and a seashell to be used as sort of an ash tray to hold underneath the smudge while I walked around the room later and I took out the copy of the hour father that Johnny had given me even though everybody in my family knows the hour father but still I took out the paper because Johnny had given it to me and I felt like it was part of the package. So I told my dad and his wife what I need to do, you know you guys need to say this and I'm going to motion upwards and I'm going to open up a portal in the ceiling. Think of their open mind into this stuff.

I said okay I'm going to open up a portal in the ceiling and I'm going to push the energy out through there and so they did it. They were saying our father who art in heaven, they were saying the our father over and over again. After I had opened up the portal I frantically scooped and pushed and blew and got the energy out as if you were like really really really seriously dusting a room and sending it all out of a hole in the wall. So that's I don't know if that description makes sense but I was really just scooping and pushing and blowing all the debris from this energy up through this portal that Johnny had told me to open and I could definitely feel that the portal was open and I could feel the energy escaping through it. So we finished.

They said they're 10 our fathers. I said okay now I have to smudge the room by myself so I did that. I lit the smudge that Johnny had given me and I went around and he said he said focus on the corners so I focused on the corners and I smudged the whole room and then Johnny had told me not to close the portal right away. I was a little new to portals but he said don't close it. He had said put a fan facing upwards to continue blowing the energy through the portal after you're finished.

So I got this box fan out of my dad's closet and I tilted it back so that it was pointing straight up and then I left it on. I gave my dad or his wife I can't remember instructions on how to close the portal which Johnny had also showed me how to do which was to take your hand and sort of it's like you're plastering the ceiling. You're restoring the ceiling. I showed my dad or his wife how to do that and I said do this after three hours and that is the time frame that Johnny had given me three hours the fan has to blow upwards. So this was many years ago and there's definitely been less feeling in that room.

My father says it's still not completely clear. One of my daughter stays there all the time and she feels nothing but I probably have to go and clean that room again. But what I wonder about that room is did that energy that represented itself in three chiffon scarves thrashing around the room did that energy cause the unhappiness of the sensitive inhabitants of that room or was it left there by their unhappiness? I don't know. But what matters now is the energy in that room is relatively clean and maybe someday I will even be able to sleep in there again.
