Downstairs Ghost

Hello, and welcome to episode 79 of My True Ghost Stories. Last week, I told you all the story of how I met St. Michael and St. Michael is my guide and protector and sort of my supervisor. We're not sort of definitely my supervisor in this lifestyle of helping ghosts to cross over.
He's my supervisor. He sort of tells me what to do and he protects me from any evil. And this week's episode is about a ghost that was actually in my house. And St. Michael really protects me in all my travels, but he also protects me strongly in my own home.
He is really in charge of not letting any ghosts come into the house, which is the rule. No ghosts are allowed in my house. I tell St. Michael every night before I go to bed, please protect me, please keep the ghosts out of the house. And I also speak directly to the ghosts that, you know, I have stood outside on my front porch before and announced, of course, while no living people were walking by, I've announced no ghosts are allowed in my house.
And then I go to the back and do the same thing. And so I feel with me announcing it and St. Michael enforcing it, no ghosts are allowed in my house. So I'm very grateful for that protection that is put in place by me and St. Michael.
However, as I told you last week, this episode is going to be about the one ghost that did get into my house. But he got into my house because he used to live in this house. The house that I live in was built in 1903. So it's an old house. It's attached to a bunch of other houses.
And me and my then husband bought this house. And when we agreed to purchase it, it's a two family house with a basement apartment. And each apartment had a family living in it. The top floor had a family living in it. The middle floor had a family living in it.
And the basement had a man living in it. And we were getting ready to buy the house or at least to make an offer. The current owner of the house took me and my then husband around the house. And I saw all coming out of the basement apartment, somebody that I know, the man that lived in the basement was a friend of mine and my then husband's also. And we're going to call him Richard.
I've probably used that name before in my stories, but we're going to call him Richard for this story. So he was such a nice guy and we really knew him and he greeted us and he sort of made a little campaign for that. He should stay in the basement apartment when we move in and we considered it and the guy that was selling us the house told us, oh, he's so nice and look, he always pays his rent on time. And he's really helpful. So you should rent to him if you can.
But something somehow it worked out that he did not stay there. He moved out and all the families moved out, which took some time because you know, everybody had to find a place to live and he Richard also found a place to live. And which was kind of okay because although it would have been nice to rent to him, we did want to use that basement. We wanted to just have the first floor and the basement be our house and then the second floor. We would rent to tenants.
So we lived there for a long time and we had three kids, one of whom still lives here, but you know, it was a busy decade or so. And then over the pandemic, I heard, well, everybody heard because a lot of people knew this guy. I heard that this man, Richard, Richard who used to live in our basement, I heard that he had passed away. I hadn't seen him in a long time and it was very sad that he had passed away and there was a lot of neighborhood talk about it in a lot of morning going on over him because he was so nice and very popular. A lot of friends.
So I heard that he had passed away. I believe at that time. Yeah, it was just me and my youngest daughter living here. And what happened with the house when we took it over is we renovated the basement where Richard used to live. It was set up like a little apartment, but we wanted to make it into three bedrooms.
So our house is a little opposite than most houses and that the bedrooms are downstairs and we wake up in the morning and go upstairs and we go downstairs to go to bed. So we gutted the basement, put up some lolly jacks. So we still had our supporting walls and we made it into three bedrooms and another bathroom and you don't need to hear all the details of my renovated basement, but it looks great now. So we spent a lot of time living down here. There was never any ghosts, the ghost rule that St.
Michael enforces and that I enforce was holding fast no ghosts are allowed in this house except right before I heard that Richard had died. I started to feel like someone was watching me. Now I know that this is really terrifying to a lot of people to feel like someone's watching them, but I'm kind of used to it. So I said, oh no, there's a ghost in this house and I didn't know. There was so benign, there was nothing going on with this ghost.
So I just sort of would say you can't be in here like you have to stop watching me, but it wasn't bothering me that much. Believe it or not, it was not bothering me that much to feel like someone was watching me. And it was shortly after I started to get this feeling that someone was watching me in my basement that I heard that Richard had passed away. And I said, you know, I bet that it's Richard. That would make sense that he is not adhering to the nobody can come into my house rule because he used to live here.
So he probably already had some energy in here that he could just sort of rejoin or something. I don't know exactly how it works, but he was in the basement. But he wasn't in the whole basement. He wasn't near all the bedrooms. He was near my daughter's bedroom when I would stay in there.
Now I did say that this new basement, this renovated basement is beautiful, but it used to flood, which wasn't very nice. And I had to replace all the carpets down here. And we solved the flooding problem by installing a some pump in my bedroom. It's in my bedroom, the some pump. And so when it's pouring rain, I sleep in my daughter's room when my daughter was awake college because the some pump goes off like every three minutes.
So when I would go, mostly when my daughter was awake college, the some pump would go off and I would have to transfer everything into her room. So I would sleep there. And as I was transferring that things there, I would have my back turned and I'd say, oh, I could feel it. I could feel that guy watching me. And I would say, just leave me alone.
I have to sleep, just leave me alone. And you can't come into this bedroom. And he never came into the bedroom, but he would be right by the door watching me, which does seem like it would be really creepy, but it actually wasn't that creepy. He wasn't like leering at me. He's just looking at me, maybe trying to get my attention, maybe confused.
I don't know. But it really wasn't bothering me and I was able to sleep. I don't think he stood there staring at me while I slept because I definitely was able to fall asleep, which is hard to do with someone staring at you. So I think he would just sort of, I don't know, but I was able to sleep because he was so benign and it wasn't bothering me at all. And when I think about it, the way this apartment used to be configured, that was his living room.
And that was where his couch was. Now it was the doorway to my daughter's bedroom, but that's where his couch was, was right around there and his living room and where he used to listen to music. So I think that was the place in the apartment that he spent the most time. So it made sense that he was standing at the door of the bedroom because I think that was his place. I did not feel him when I was in my bedroom by the sun pump.
I never felt him there. I felt him up towards the front, towards my daughter's bedroom, where Richard's living room used to be. And I did not tell my daughter this. I mean, why would I want to do that? Why freak her out?
You know, oh, by the way, sweetheart, there's a man, there's a ghost man who stands at the doorway and watches you while you sleep or watches you go to bed. I am not going to tell her that. She knows now, especially if she listens to this podcast, which I think she does. She knows now, but at the time, you know, I was not going to tell her that. And it was so benign, I was like, oh, I don't even have to worry about it.
So some time went by. When it was raining heavy and the sun pump goes off and my daughter's not home, those three things happen, then I would go sleep in her room. Richard will be standing there in the doorway looking at me. I would tell him to leave me alone, just turn around and stop looking at me. And then I would go to sleep up there.
That continued. That continued every time I slept in her room. And then she came back from school and I didn't sleep in her room anymore. I deal with the sun pump in other ways. There's other places to sleep in the house.
So I didn't sense that man for a while. And it was okay. It's not like I missed him or worried about it. I just forgot about it. Except about a week ago, I was up in the kitchen and I thought, oh, I haven't seen, I haven't felt Richard in a long time.
I just thought that. And I said, you know, I wonder if that ghost is still down there. I didn't go down to check. I was just, he just came into my mind. And then I went about my day.
I went to work. I went to the grocery store. I did all those things. And I thought about it all day. He just was in my head all day.
You know, nothing pressing. Just I just kept thinking about it. I wonder what's going on with that ghost. I wonder what's going on with Richard. And then my daughter came home that night and she said, mom, I couldn't sleep last night.
She said, I kept feeling like something was at my door and I just kept feeling like I had to go out and check outside my door. And this is the first time. My daughter is sensitive, but for some reason Richard was not bothering my daughter. She never mentioned it. This is the first time she said that she had felt this presence.
And she said that she thought about it all day. Just like I was. I thought about it all day. Richard was in my mind. My daughter had this feeling that there was something outside her door and she had to go check and she thought about it all day.
And I said, okay, I guess I have to do something about this. So she said, mom, tell me the truth. Is there a ghost near my room in the basement? And I wasn't going to deny it because it was too much of a coincidence me thinking about it, her thinking about it. I just said, yes, there's a ghost of a man.
I believe that it's Richard who used to live there. You know him. You like him. And she was, mom, you have you please go down and do something. Go down and do something.
I don't want to live with a ghost at the door of my room, which I can't really blame her. One of the reasons I hadn't dealt with him before really except to tell him the move is because when I go in there, I'm so tired. I don't have the energy to help him cross over. So I guess I sort of neglected him. But this time it was like, all right, let's go.
I'm getting messages. She's getting messages. So I went downstairs to the doorway of her bedroom and there was Richard. I could feel him and I could feel him looking at me. And so he walked over and I actually stood right inside my daughter's room because that is the way he's always facing when I see him.
So I just said, let's reenact that. So I stood inside my daughter's room and Richard the ghost was looking at me except he was usually looking at me in my bed, in my daughter's bed. But this time I'm standing in front of him. And so I started to say, okay, Richard, can you stand over there instead of at the door? Can you stand by the front door?
And this is the approach I was taking. To ask him to not stand right there but to stand in a different spot in the basement. And that's when St. Michael stepped in. He said, I talked about St.
Michael last week. St. Michael is tough and he's no nonsense. And he said to me, don't tell him to move. He needs to cross over.
It's time for him to cross over not to move to a different location in the basement. And I was like, oh, I have to help him cross over. That makes sense. And I think that he's so benign and it didn't bother me at all. And it's possible that I actually liked this ghost a little bit.
It definitely wasn't protective. But I don't know. There was just something familiar about it about having him there. So I just, you know, I hadn't, I hadn't crossed him over. And maybe I wasn't supposed to cross him over and now was the time.
And I think that's actually the case. Now is the time to cross him over. St. Michael was yelling at me, don't tell him to move to another spot. It's time to cross him over.
And I said, okay, I'm going to cross him over now. So I told Richard, I explained to him what was going to happen. I said, Richard, you're going to stand right there. Right where you always stand. And some guides are going to come in and they're going to take you and they're going to lift you up to the other side.
And Richard was fine with that. Richard did not have any problems. Sometimes they want to talk about it. They don't understand. Richard understood.
Richard said, okay. And I said, all right, let's go. And I called the guides and the guides came in and they took Richard's arms. And he ascended very quickly. I actually said goodbye to this ghost.
I don't usually say goodbye because I really don't have much of a relationship with most of these ghosts. 99% of them. But this one I did have a relationship with and then I knew him in life. I knew that he lived here and he had been lurking around my basement for a few years. So I said, goodbye, Richard, goodbye.
But I didn't say it in a way that would call him back. I made sure that he kept going and that this was a final goodbye that I was saying to him. And he went up. So I super sealed up that portal. I mean, this is my house and no ghosts are allowed in here.
So I don't want to take any chances with any sort of open portal that somebody might be curious about and come down and haunt my basement. No, I sealed up that portal like there was no tomorrow. I sealed it up. And then that was sealed and I have to like brush energy off of me. Not that he had negative energy, but I just, you know, the crossing them over is a little tiring and it can leave energy on me.
So I brushed off that energy and I went upstairs and my daughter said, it feels better already. So she, I was completely silent down there, you know, most of this conversation with the ghost of Richard and St. Michael happened in my head. But she said it feels better already and it did. It did feel better already.
So I think that Richard was dragging down our energy ever so slightly and now he has gone on to where he's supposed to be. And I will sort of miss that ghost, but not really. I really need there to be no ghosts in my house and that's for a reason that's because, you know, I need to sleep. I need to rest and this is a ghost free zone that I really appreciate because when I walk out the door, they're everywhere. So I'm grateful that Richard has crossed over and he's in a better place now and hopefully good things are happening for him there and me and my daughter have slept so much better since I crossed him over.
