A busy family vacation delays my conversation with a ghost who needs my help to find her way to the other side. Welcome to episode 41 of my true ghost stories. My family has for many years always gone to this one particular beach town in New Jersey and if you are from what they call North Jersey to go to the Jersey shore is called going down the shore or, as they say, in my hometown, down a shore. So a large group consisting of my family, parents, brothers, sisters, in-laws, significant others, cousins and kids would go down a shore every summer and rent the same house for two weeks. The house was not big enough to hold everyone at once, so different family members came and went during the two weeks.
It took detailed planning and basically a map of the house and all the bedrooms to organize who was sleeping where on what days. So there were a lot of people there for that two weeks there and also at this house were a lot of ghosts. I don't know if the space was attracting them, but my guess is that the ghosts were attracted to all the people, all the energy. And I do think that they were attracted to me, me who with my abilities given to me by the universe could see and hear them and possibly help them get off this plane and onto the next. On this Jersey shore vacation, the one I'm talking about in this episode, by this time in my life I had figured out what spirits wanted from me and that I could help them cross over.
I had also learned to set boundaries with them. These boundaries were useful on this vacation because I was really trying to socialize with family, many of whom I only saw once a year on this vacation. So by setting these boundaries with the ghosts, I was able to focus on conversations with the living, on cute babies and board games. As well as go to the beach and swim all day, which is something I like to do. And by this time in my life, when I would go stay someplace like a vacation beach house, I would do the same thing that I do at home.
I would tell the ghosts that I need to sleep and they would have to wait outside for me if they want my help because I can't help them if I'm sleep deprived. So that's what happened at this house. The spirits, after I set this boundary of not coming in the house, would all be outside near the barbecue and the deck chairs all day when I walked through on my way to and from the beach and the ghosts were especially present when the whole family was gathered out there for dinner. But I was so busy chatting with aunts, uncles, and cousins and playing with nieces and nephews that I was unable to help any spirits out there on the back deck. I was having a great time with my family and on the beach, but there was also this frustrating situation with the ghosts where I felt bad for them and I wished I could help.
But I really wanted to hang with my family, many of whom, as I said, I only got to see here at the beach once a year. I wanted to maximize my time with my family so I neglected the spirits who needed my help. The spirits were standing on the perimeter of the deck staring at me and trying to get my attention. And for some reason they never went to the beach. They always waited for me in the backyard.
Not that I would have been able to help them on the beach either because it was nonstop chatting and playing there, also. Family vacations are fun, but also exhausting. On the back deck, I was successful for the most part as blocking out the ghosts who were trying to get my attention. But there was one who I had a hard time ignoring. To the point that I silently addressed her during a rare quiet moment out there on the back deck, it was a woman standing to the side of an outdoor couch where most of my conversations took place.
I would sit across from this couch every night chatting with a different family member and she, the ghosts, would be next to them, standing between the couch and a potted tomato plant staring at me. She had an expressive face and was wearing a white, flowy dress like a ghost would wear. And it seemed like she was waiting for a break in the conversation, which of course on this busy conversation packed vacation rarely happened. A break in the conversation did happen once or twice and it was during one of these rare breaks in the conversation, the couch across for me was actually empty for a few moments that I was able to silently address this woman's spirit. I told her to wait there for me and I would at some point soon be able to talk to her.
And this seemed to be okay with her. She stopped staring and I was able to converse with the next family member occupant of the couch without having to try and ignore the ghost woman who had been standing there. She kept standing there but she was not staring at me anymore. It seems she trusted that I would help her later. The other spirits remained but were not as persistent as this woman.
So I was able to concentrate on my vacation knowing that I had something like an appointment with her to help. So the situation became less frustrating and sad for me. That night dinner was delicious. The tradition on these vacations is that every family takes a night for cooking so everybody makes their specialty which is of course always delicious. This the family in general is comprised of a bunch of really good cooks.
So the culinary specialties change from year to year. I personally am not in this good cook category. My idea of cooking for everyone is to order six pizzas. After the nightly delicious dinner and cleanup we traditionally all take a walk to the beach. The kids play in the sand, the adults walk around, more conversations are had.
After the walk on the beach and the return to the house, the kids go to bed and on some nights the adults play some sort of game like Pictionary or Dictionary. They'll play a charades type of game and there are new cool games introduced by this family every year. The night of this story was one of those game nights and we played something loud and raucous, probably something like Pictionary. And after the game there was lots of late night talking, we tend to keep the TV off during these vacations. And finally the adults slowly, a few at a time, headed off to bed.
I was staying in a room on the second floor and I headed up there, one of the last adults to go to bed. I entered the bedroom which had a small night light on so I didn't have to turn the lights on. This bedroom had a window that overlooked the back deck, the one with the barbecue, the couch, the tomato plant and the ghosts. In front of that window that overlooked the back deck was a dresser on which I had put my moisturizer and other toiletries so I was standing there putting cream on my face and looking out the window at the backyard. And there she was.
Still standing next to the tomato plant by the couch, looking up at me through the window with a patient and expectant look on her face. Help her now, St. Michael whispered to me so I greeted her. Hello, I can help you now. I said and she responded.
I don't want to be here anymore. I don't know what to do. St. Michael told me to explain to her that she can cross over to the other side. I explained it to her but she seemed hesitant.
For some reason she had remained on this side after she passed away and whatever that reason was was still making her not want to cross over. It's better over there. I promise I kept trying and she kept resisting. I asked Michael, what should I tell her? As I have told you on other episodes of this podcast, I work together with St.
Michael because he knows what these spirits need in order to cross over. And for some reason the trapped spirits can only see me and talk to me, not St. Michael. So I'm just a messenger and Michael tells me what to say and what he tells me to tell them usually is something that makes them want to cross over. So as I said, I asked Michael, what should I tell her?
I listened, I closed my eyes and the message from Michael was slow coming. It started with a vision in my head and the vision was a thick black liquid substance and it was pouring over the sides of a container and it was forming into round discs. And I realized it was vinyl. Michael spoke up. Her records tell her her records are up there.
I opened my eyes and I looked back out the window at her. She was still standing there looking patiently and expectantly at me. I made eye contact with her and I said, your records are up there. Her face lit up. My records?
I can listen to my records? Yes you can, I told her. And this changed everything. Her hesitation vanished and she started saying, when can I see my records? When can I see my records?
I said as soon as you get to the other side, which I didn't actually know. Maybe there was some sort of intake process or something. I don't know what happens as soon as they cross over. But I know that she was being guided to a better place and that she would eventually wind up with her records. So she agreed to go.
Everything had been holding her here. Something had kept her from crossing over. But whatever that thing was, the opportunity to go somewhere and play her records was better. It was heavenly to her. I believe that Michael showed me the liquid vinyl first because it was not just listening to the music that was important to this trapped woman spirit.
It was the records themselves, the collection, which I imagined she spent a lifetime putting together. He wanted me to tell her about her records knowing that it was the records themselves that she loved, the covers, the liner notes, and the vinyl. I crossed her over. She went quickly and willingly arms outstretched and looking up. And she went to, I imagine, a room with shelves and shelves of albums with well-worn covers and a high quality record player.
