Scurrying Spirits

A big beautiful house with lots of problems, including some confused ghosts. Welcome to episode 51 of My True Ghost Stories. I hope you all had a great summer. I know I did. And let's begin this week's spooky story.

There is a house for sale on my block. There's a few houses for sale on my block. This one in particular is a really nice looking house. It's got two garages, a big backyard. It's detached, not attached to another house on either side, it's driveway.

And it has been empty for years. Except for some squatters that lived there briefly and a family of raccoons that lived there also. Otherwise it's been empty for a few years now. And I'm very grateful that it hasn't been sold to developers yet. Developers come and they knock down these really attractive houses and put up these other things that I don't consider attractive.

So anyway, I am happy that the house is still for sale, still standing and not been sold to developers. Apparently though, this house is in really bad shape and there are like holes in the roof. There's plumbing problems, there's electrical problems. I was talking to a real estate agent at a different location. And she said that she had gone into this empty house on my block and that she didn't even think it was fixable.

Like there's no amount of money that could restore this house to what it used to be. One day I was walking down my street on the side of the street that has this empty house for sale on it. And outside on the sidewalk I saw a sign that said, open house today. And I looked up at the porch and there was a real estate guy standing on the porch with a clipboard. So I kept walking and I made a right up the steps and I said, oh, there's an open house today.

How great. And he said, sure would you like to look around? Are you interested in the house? And I said, yes. And I sort of told him this idea that I have.

I did not let him know how far fetched this idea was. But I told him about how I had this idea about moving out of the house that I live on, which is way up on the corner. There has a lot of traffic noise. And buying this house, living in it and renting my house on the corner, it all sounds very feasible. But it's not that feasible with my life situation.

But I told him about this and he thought this was a great idea and told me to go on in and look around. So when he told me to go on in and look around, he opened the door to the house, which was closed. And I looked into the house and I started to take a step in and there was this long hallway and it was dark. It was dark except for a little bit of sunlight that was coming in through the windows that were on the sides of the house. It was not attached.

There were windows on the side, but the electricity had been turned off in this house because there was so many problems. So it was dark. This hallway was dark. And at the end of this long hallway, I could see that it opened up into some large room and there in the doorway of this large room, I saw ghosts. The ghosts were not standing there looking back at me.

The ghosts were scurrying back and forth. It was really spooky. Sort of running back and forth, looking worried, looking perturbed, ringing their hands, sort of scurrying back and forth. That's the only word I can use to describe it was scurrying. So I had taken this one step into the house and I saw these ghosts scurrying back and forth and it was a little surprising.

And so I actually jumped back out of the house onto the porch. And I knew the answer to this question that I was about to ask the real estate guy, but I asked him anyway and I said, oh, I said, is it haunted? Which I knew it was, but I wanted to see if he knew it was. And he said, nope, not anymore. But he started to describe the situation with the quote unquote squatters, some people that had been living in there.

They had been sneaking in the back and living in one room upstairs. And he described that situation and how they had been removed from the house and that they had sealed up that back door where they had been getting in. So he gave that reason as to why it was not haunted anymore. But he had obviously not had this house cleared by a medium. So go ahead, he said, take a look around while he stood on the porch.

And I thought maybe he does know it's haunted and he's just scared to go in. But I didn't know. He wasn't acting scared and he was probably just waiting to see if anybody else was going to come down the block and go take a look around this dark scary house. So I'm not that scared of ghosts. They do startle me when they just appear like that, but I'm not scared of them.

So I was totally fine just walking down this hallway towards the room where they were. So I walked down this somewhat dark hallway with just a little sunlight coming in from some side windows. And as I got to the end of the hallway, there was no ghost scurrying while I was walking down the hallway. So I got to the end of the hallway and I made a little left into the big room that the hallway led to. And when I entered that room, that room was really dark because there wasn't any windows in that room.

It was right in the center of the house. When I entered that room, I saw ghosts. There was at least two ghosts in there and the paranormal energy was very active. Now if I had been hired to clear this house, I know that this would have been a really big job. These ghosts that I was seeing, mainly I was seeing one woman who was ringing her hands and one man who was sort of scurrying around the room.

I know it would have been a really big job because these ghosts were displaying confusion and resistance and even anger. And it would have been a big job because they were not asking me for my help. I would have had to converse with them and convince them and talk about what's better on the other side. And that would take a really long time. I walked back to the end of the hallway that I had walked through to get into this dining room and the real estate agent still had the front door open and he was standing out on the porch and I called to him and I said, is it okay to take a look upstairs because I was standing right next to stairs that obviously went to the second floor?

Yes, he said, go ahead. I said, is it safe or the steps going to collapse or anything because this house was really dilapidated looking? He said, no, no, no. The house is sound. Go ahead, walk on up those steps and check out the upstairs apartment.

No, I knew from what he had told me that that's where the squatters had been and I know that they weren't there anymore. I certainly did not want to run into any living strangers up there because that can be more scary than ghosts. But I knew it was empty so I went up feeling pretty confident and not scared. And when I got to the second floor, it was not haunted at all. First of all, it was a lot sunnier because it was up higher and so more sunlight was coming in the windows.

And I do know that it had had a ten inch there until a few years before this. So it was less dilapidated and abandoned looking than downstairs. So I walked around that upstairs apartment and I imagined buying this house and renovating it and maybe I would live on both floors or maybe I would rent the top floor or maybe I would live on the top floor. I was having all sorts of ideas of what I would do with this house if I bought it. These fantasies of mine I knew would cost millions of dollars to do.

It was a huge property. It had garages. It was not attached on either side. It had a backyard. It had everything that makes a house cost millions of dollars in New York City.

And forget about the renovations. So I finished my little walk around the upstairs apartment where I saw not one ghost and it went back downstairs. And as I got to the bottom of the stairs, the real estate agent came in. I guess nobody else was showing up for the open house. So he came in and he said, yeah, let me give you a little tour.

I guess he wanted me to look around it for myself and have those fantasies about what I would do with it before he showed me around. I think that's what real estate agents do. So we started this little tour. So we walked down the rest of that hallway and he talked about different renovations and how you could remodel here and you could knock down this wall and combine the kitchen with the dining room and things like that. Obviously not many people had come to this open house.

I had seen the sign in sheet and I was only the third person to come that day. So this real estate agent had nothing but time and he was happy to show me all around even though I'm pretty sure he could tell that I was not a serious buyer. So on this little tour, we wound up in that dining room that was at the end of the hallway and that was one of the rooms that he was talking about knocking down the wall and those ghosts were in there. And I could tell from his words of knocking down the wall that they were getting even more agitated. They were still very confused.

They were unhappy. And this talk of knocking down walls and changing the structure of the house was making them more confused and unhappy. And I could not help them. I did acknowledge these ghosts silently by looking at them and sending them a silent message which I hope gave them some comfort but I could not cross them over. As I said before, this job, if I were to be hired to do it, would require a ritual, you know, candles and spray, long conversations with the spirits.

And when I did finally get them to cross over, I would have to mop the floors with special solution and clean the walls. And I could not do this on the sly while pretending to pay attention to this mini tour that the real estate agent was giving me. As we wrapped it up and we headed back down that hallway, back towards the porch, I casually mentioned to him, you know, have you thought about any sort of energy clearing of this house? And this particular real estate agent did not seem receptive to this suggestion. And since he was so not receptive to it, he sort of poo-pooed it as a silly idea, I said, well, you know, maybe you could ask the owners if they would be interested in that kind of thing.

And for some reason, I did not tell him that I specialize in energy clearing of homes. Speaking about it, somehow the timing was not right. His energy, something, maybe it wasn't time for those spirits to go up. I don't know. But I did not tell him that I'm a medium and I could do the spiritual cleaning because he wasn't open to that kind of thing.

And that's a waste of time trying to convince somebody to get a spiritual cleaning when they don't even believe in it. And this all happened a few years ago. And that house is still on the market. Only six months or so, a different real estate company's sign will go up on the front of the house. When I look at it online, it says price reduced.

It's still in the millions, but it does say price reduced. So they're really trying to move this house. I think I know what the problem is. Besides all the renovations and rehabilitation that this house needs, it's haunted. I think potential buyers are picking up on that energy, but they don't really know what's going on.

And every time I walk by it, I consider that I should buy that house. But the cost of me to buy and renovate this house would cost millions. And for me to have millions that would involve me winning the lottery. And me winning the lottery would require me to at least buy a lottery ticket, which I do not do. So who knows what will happen with that house?

Maybe several million dollars will fall into my lap and I can go on over there and pay cash and get it all renovated and move in there. Or maybe not. But whatever happens, I hope that somebody will help those poor, confused, screent ghosts that are at the end of that hallway. Thank you for listening to today's episode of My True Ghost Stories.
